Love traded to CLE for Wiggins, Bennett, Pick

It will definitely be interesting to see whether Dan Gilbert is willing to go into the luxury tax for multiple years to keep this team together.  There is nothing in the rulebook to keep them from resigning guys like Thompson and Waiters, but the only team willing to go deep into the luxury tax since the new CBA was signed has been the Nets.  Even the Heat owner traded away Mike Miller to stay under the tax last year.

If they are able to keep everyone together, that is gonna be a really great core to build around.  Kyrie- Waiters- Lebron- Love- Varejo- Thompson is a very strong 6 guys, throw in a few vets every year who will sign for cheap and that team could be a title contender for years.

As for the trade- Cavs gave up way too much.  I understand giving up Wiggins is probably the only way to get it done, but giving up Bennett is rough, and giving up a 1st with them is just silly.  You're gonna need those 1sts to try and find some cheap role players going forward

I'm not all that high on Wiggins. He can be explosive athletically, but his movements aren't fluid enough for me to think he'll end up being what many think he will be. I do agree that Minnesota has an intriguing team now, with a young nucleus of Rubio, Lavine, Wiggins, and Bennet. If those guys develop anywhere close to their potential, Minnesota could be contending in a few years.

Some of you are crazy, this is a great trade for both teams. There is no guarantee that Wiggins will EVER be as good as Love is right now, Bennett has been a huge disappointment, and the first rounder they gave up will be at the end of the round anyways.

Wiggins, an unknown, is the only big piece you give up for one of the top players in the league? You do that all day unless you're rebuilding.

That being said, I still like our chances.

    • As I said less than 10 minutes into the game, Boston looks nothing like we're used to seeing. Regardless, any curb-stomping of the Bruins is welcome.  The scorers all got the glory tonight, but all 6 D-men had excellent games. Across the board- Gost, Orlov, Chatty, Walker and, of course, Slavin & Burns.
    • I just tried a few mock draft simulators and this is the only way lol. Nothing else makes sense.
    • No, biggest weakness is pass rush, but I don't think there is a blue chip can't miss DE prospect to take at #1 this year, same as with QB.  But beyond that, moving forward, yea WR is a pretty damn big weakness. We have 1 game this season over 224 yards passing and just traded away our best WR (who wasn't going to re-sign here anyways).  That WR no longer on the team was also the only player we've had this year who had over 78 yards receiving in a game.  So again, yea, WR is one of our biggest weaknesses even right now, let alone moving into the future. As I just said in my other post, I love Legette, but he's not going to be a Top 5-10 WR type of guy, Top 15-20 I can see, I think he can be a good #1 WR or an elite #2. After that, what do we have for the future?  Thielen isn't part of it, sure as hell isn't going to be Mingo, and as much as we all like Coker, in no world is Coker as our #2 to Legette as the #1 going be considered as "having weapons" at WR, even with Brooks and Sanders. But put someone like T-Mac into that group, who I genuinely think is going to be a Top 5 WR in this league for a long time, and it changes things.  A Top 5 WR with Legette/Coker as the 2/3, along with Brooks and Sanders, has the potential to be one of the best set of offensive weapons in the league if they reach their potential.
