Our schedule is HORRIBLE

Ok, with the exception of moving a small market down and a big market up to help readership (i.e. +Bears, - Panthers), the power rankings this time of year tend to just be a copy and paste of last year's standings (despite the fact that an average of 5.5 teams get bounced from the playoffs each year).

Anyway, a few friends and I got together and are seeing who can correctly pick the final playoff teams at various points in the season. The points are weighted to where the earlier picks count more, as the true playoff teams become for obvious as the season goes on.

My first set of picks are due tomorrow, and I wasn't sure what to do about our division. While researching, I took a closer look at our HORRIBLE schedule.

Panthers

-6 games against playoff teams

-4 Away (Cincinnati, Green Bay, Philadelphia, New Orleans)

-2 Home (Seattle, New Orleans)

New Orleans

-5 games against playoff teams

-1 Away (Carolina)

-4 Home (Green Bay, San Francisco, Cincinnati, Carolina)

WHAT THE FRENCH!! TOAST!

Well c'mon now of course if you are going to nitpick for negatives you can easily find something (which you have). If you were to nitpick for positives I'm sure you could find something just as easy.

Maybe it's better the playoff teams are away games, go ahead and assume those are hard games so we probably only win half anyways. That leaves more of the easier games as home games which should increase the chance of winning more of them and having a better overall record.

Of course they are going to throw a pity party home schedule for New Orleans. Why those assholes are the darling of the schedule makers eye is beyond me.

I thought last season's schedule was going to be super tough too.

Then Falcons turned to poo
Giants became poo
Bucs were even worse than I thought

Minnesota went from playoffs to firing their coach

Zona was better than I thought

Etc. We won't know till we play em. Line em up and we will knock em down

    • Canales was brought in to fix Bryce. That was how he sold himself. He failed.  the panthers need a new qb, someone to coach him, and someone to build a defensive staff.  Canales has failed at developing a new qb. His big draft project XL is trending towards bust. His entire nfl resume before the panthers was one season as offensive coordinator on a stacked Bucs team, and being on the offensive staff when a 31 year old Geno smith finally put it all together. And he didn’t even pick his offensive coordinator. Assuming evero is gone, who’s he got in that phone to call? What low lvl porn addict evangelical from the bucs is ready to be Peter principled? There is nothing in his coaching history or his current performance that indicates he’s the person to move this team forward. Every other team knew this last cycle (panthers were only interview) and nothing has happened to change that perception   all people like you have is “well you can’t do it again it’s too soon but <random interval of time> will be different.  just pull off the bandage. There’s no reason to let this guy draft “his guy” except people wanting an excuse not to fire him after 2025.
    • Both Reich and Canales were saddled with trying to build and establish a viable scoring offense around Bryce Young. The best the offense looked this season and last season was with Andy Dalton who is also terrible but still better than Bryce Young. Which should be all anyone needs to know but still somehow there are weirdos here salivating over a ceiling of maybe on a really good day the 25th best QB in the league. We've already canned one entire staff over our first overall pick. You can fire everyone again to satisfy your need for vengeance and quickly come to the realization that your next hire will absolutely unequivocally be a downgrade yes man or you can blow up this QB room and then assess. If no progress next season then you can make changes and justifiably so.
    • Surprised this is the only post with this take.  This is like the Rhule kiss of death lol.
