we need a burner to stretch the defense, but if Underwood can't catch the ball, it won't matter....other teams

will know. Still, it's concerning that the wr's that should make the team aren't known for their speed.

Could create spacing problems.

Here's my take, and let me know if I'm off.

Speed is important to a team that wants yards in chunks, to score quickly. A team that would rather outscore their opponent rather than play defense. Don't get me wrong, speed is awesome and coveted, but in terms of what we want to do on offense, speed is further down the list than say, hands, route running, blocking, football IQ.

We as a WR group have a few WRs who have excellent routes. Cotchery, avant, even Bersin at this point. As an offense that wants to ground and pound, be consistent, eat clock, stay efficient and synchronized, speed isn't a top priority.

As a whole, I really like our WR corps. I'd rather through the ball down the field to KB than some speed guy. Don't ways need speed to stretch the field with a deep threat.

Is it? I mean really, is it? His production and impact will be immediate. As good as, if not better than the WRs left on the board at that point. I'll take my chances. It was probably dumb if me to have picked Cam in the first rnd of his rookie season, but we all know how that worked out. No risk= no reward. I'm going for it

Calvin Johnson, the 2nd overall pick and regarded as the best receiver ever coming into the draft, had only 756 yards and 4 tds his rookie year. Rookie receivers have a tough time adjusting to the game right away and making an impact. I'm not saying Kelvin Benjamin won't do it, but the risk way way way outweighs the reward. And actually there will be a sh*tload of receivers left on the board that are way better than KB (fantasy stats wise) in the 4th round. The main point I was making is that he will be there in the 10th round even almost guaranteed, or just to be safe go 8th or 9th. It'd be like taking Cam 1st overall when you know he'll be there in the 4th or 5th round with probably 5-7 other QBs going before him. KB is more of a redzone receiver anyways so he could have a couple weeks where he'd have a td and like 50 yards but there'd be other weeks where he gets like only 30 yards. You need more consistent receivers.

Valid points. If Alshon Jeffries is still there, he'll be my pick

pretty much this.

speed isn't all that important for the offense we run, at least when compared to just heing able to make catches. actually for what we do size > speed. having a burner would be a nice element to add to the mix, but it's not necessary for it to work well.

btw, don't look at rankings for success of this offense. success isn't dependent on having big scoring games or mega yards. it just won't happen. that's not the desired outcome. controlling the clock and limiting the other team's possessions while keeping the defense rested is the what they want. they do need to score more frequently than they did, but not a whole lot more.

I'm in re-draft leagues not keeper so maybe it's different for you, but I plan on drafting KB in round 10 in all my leagues. I've done a bunch of mocks on yahoo, fantasyfootballcalculator, and one other i forget the name of and in all of them KB has gone no earlier than round 12 (except if I took him earlier). I'm going to go 10 just to be safe, but I'd be confident passing on him in 10 and 11 and trying to get him in the 12th. Most people think the Panthers suck in every single position and wouldn't draft anybody from us. Even in IDP leagues, Kuechly goes much later than he should. It benefits us Panthers fans and smart fantasy drafters who will take Cam in the 6th or 7th (and have him be a top 3 QB as he has in all 3 of his years) or KB in the 10th or DeAngelo or Stewart (who are solid when given the carries even for fantasy) in the 13th-15th. That's a starting RB in the last 3 rounds, people are too stupid to realize how good of value that is. Yeah they may split but the value there is huge. Honestly, the only pick I will pick really early this year is our defense, since they are now going right after Seattle and San Fran. Last year I got them in the 15th round...

While its true that rookie WRs have hard time adjusting the trend is changing for all rookie position who are having impact in their 1st season. aka Cam, Luke, Star, Sheldon Richardson, Doug  Martin ..etc

Keenan Allen 71 rec 1,046 yds as a rookie.    Kelvin is coming in the same situation where both teams  have a good running game and Top 10 TE.

Doesn't take rookies as long to adjust bc of rule changes and the fact CBs can't maul them like in the past (which is where the "it takes about 3 years to adjust" mindset came from"). Good WRs can make plays as a rookie and shine year 2
