I don't necessarily think people are over analyzing Ealy, but some do seem to be overly critical of him.  

 

You had to know that Ealy wouldn't necessarily get a whole lot of playing time this year anyway with our stacked stable of DEs. I would argue that the whole crew has talent, including Horton and Roh.  Furthermore, most DEs aren't going to come in and dominate like let's say a...Julius Peppers.  Neither Johnson or Hardy, arguably two of the top 5---definitely top 10---DEs really didn't have notable rookie seasons.   It takes time to learn the position, physically train to face professional behemoths on a consistent basis, and play well enough to justify keeping some other talented player on the bench.

 

Patience is the key here. G-man wouldn't have spent such a high pick on him if he didn't believe in Ealy. he had him as a first round grade, and G-man knows a thing about talent.

Good points. I just want him to be better than Addison and Horton this year. I know he needs development

I don't expect any impact from Ealy.

If he gets ob the field for some third diwns this season, that's fine. Let the kid develop boys.

Good lord, we don't even need Ealy this year if we stay healthy. In my eyes, he's got two and a half to three years to learn. Lots of good lineman ahead of him at this point. He will be counted on at some point, but not this year.

 

Agreed, I mean, its not like anyone expects him to beat out CJ or Hardy. Its a given DL takes a while to adjust too. Its what makes what Star and Short did so special. However, what irks me most was how chipper Gman was with getting Cam Benjamin. I loved Kelvin, don't get me wrong but damn, to be bragging about adding 1 extra WR. Its not like we couldn't have done with Robinson or Landry too. Not a knock on Ealy but Cotchery and Avant aren't exactly youngsters.
