You'll be in Montsta territory. California is a great place. You'll love it.

Not really. Bout hour, hour half from edge of Bay Area.

That said, check out old Sac, and if you do wine tasting, Lodi is awesome.

Other than that, there is zero to do in Sacramento. Or at least zero worth driving out of Bay Area for.

Wife took a job in Sacramento, which is the one big Cali city I have no clue about (been to San Fran, LA, San Diego, San Jose etc..) but from what it looks like its a lot like Raleigh.

State Capital that the Locals love but no real reason to visit however its located close to Tahoe and San Fran and Napa etc.

So it could be worse. She could have taken the job in Memphis or Ohio...

Literally the only decent thing about Sacramento is it's proximity to Lake Tahoe.

That's what I thought about Raleigh when I first moved here. I had spent the last 6 years in Wilmington, and even though Wilmington is small its the Beach and it was full of beautiful girls... more girls than guys. I loved it but at some point you have to grow up and I got my Chemistry degree so RTP was the logical place.

Anyway Raleigh was just Meh when I moved there no matter how many articles I read on Raleigh being a great place to live it was boring. Then I started to find things to do (Parks/hiking, Canes games, restaurants etc.) and realized what I used to think was fun and a great time wasn't exactly my idea of fun anymore. I ended up loving Raleigh for the day to day life and it being close to Wilmington AND the mountains made things easier. Not to mention its airport is wayyyyyy too nice for the actual city so it got to the point that if I wanted the other things they were easy for me to get to.

Basically Raleigh is Sacramento. Everyone who's lived there that I've talked to loved it but when asked why should I visit no one can really give an answer. I've been to San Fran many times and loved it and more than likely on of our first weekends after the move will be spent there and soon after Tahoe or Napa. But its like y'all said and I already know, no one visits Sacramento but it is a good central location that after a while the locals end up loving.

We're just debating on if French Laundry is worth the money or not lol
