Panthers Training Camp Wrapup - July 31

Jeremy Igo

He has been in the past in his very limited number of snaps as a #4/#5 WR.

edited my response..  but 1 or 2 catches a year barely prove a point.   hardly making the field at 4 and 5 in a bad corp of wr's and still barely getting touches doesn't help either.

Our 4 and 5 have always hardly ever gotten any touches.

first of all, there's little to discuss here other than a hunch.  I'm not going to sit here and say our receivers after Smitty have never been good enough to keep real talent off the field when he's only had 2 catches in 3 years.  Just like pointing to those 2 catches in a full year is going to convince anyone that he's cut out to make plays in the NFL.  It's just not something to hang your hat on.

From what I've seen has me believing the only chances he'll ever see the field despite major injuries at WR is at kick return.  Feed me crow when you see him making plays on Sundays but it's not going to happen.  Just what my eyes are telling me.

He has King, Bersin, Underwood, McNutt, and that other guy to beat out.  If it's not a solid lock at kick return I don't see it happening at all.

Not really.

There would be a much different look from a screen pass to a 50 yd bomb.

This looks like a long, lofty throw coming up.  Sort of like those 30-40 yd trash can throws.

I thought so too. You can see Dorsey's eye looking at the same thing Cam is and they are both looking high.  Good observation.

I'm loving what I'm hearing about our O-line, especially Chandler and Turner.  I don't only think our run game will be improved, but our pass protection will be improved as well (maybe we can even complete some of those long ass pass plays Shula loves to call)

Also our secondary is...very interesting to me. With our pass rush I think we got some guys in place who can succeed and take advantage of poor passes.

I think our CB depth chart will look something like this

Melvin White
Antoine Cason
Bene Benwikere
Charles Godfrey
James Dockery
Carrington Byndom

I'm really wondering more and more why Godfrey was moved to CB. I didn't think he was great at safety by any means, but I think he'd probably have a better chance of making the roster at a position he's played at his entire career as opposed to trying to learn a new position at this point in his career after rupturing his Achilles no less.
