Top 5 players at Each Position

PG:

1.Chris Paul- he will start to be labeled as a player that never accomplished anything if he doesn't do something in the next 2 years or so.

2.Tony Parker- and at the other end of the spectrum^^^

3.Russell Westbrook- is he really a PG? well that's what he is labeled and he's probably in the Top 5 in the league so he better be in the Top 5 PGs

4.Steph Curry- he could be #1 if he leads them to the WCF or NBA Finals

5.Damian Lillard- the force is strong with this one. Sky is the limit.

Honorable mention: D.Rose's injuries have kept him off the list. He has to prove he can play more than a handful of games to crack the Top 5.

SG:

1.James Harden- defense is atrocious, but man can he fill it up.

2.Lance Stephenson- CODE RED 'HOMER' ALERT - but is it..?? ...IS IT!?!

3.Klay Thompson- doesn't hurt when you play opposite Steph but hey, he still can ball

4.DeMar DeRozen- have the Raptors ever won a playoff series with DeRozen?

5.Bradley Beal- see Lillard^^

Honorable mention: Kobe & D.Wade are the vets that will go down in the Top 5 SGs of alltime, but not for what they do in 2014-15.

SF:

1.LeBron James- GOAT SF???

2.Kevin Durrant- NBA MVP

3.Carmelo Anthony- I couldn't put the next 2 above him. And you couldn't either. Try, I dare you!!!

4.Kahwi Leonard- see Lillard and Beal^^^

5.Paul George- would have been #3 if it wasn't for the 2nd half of the season.. and playoff run..

Honorable mention: Gordon Hayward & Loul Deng suffered from down years last year. Look for them both to bounce back this year.

PF:

1.LaMarcus Aldridge- The Top 3 at this position change on a nightly basis.

2.Blake Griffin- The Top 3 at this position change on a nightly basis.

3.Kevin Love- The Top 3 at this position change on a nightly basis.

4.Anthony Davis- see Lillard, Beal and Kahwi^^^^

5.Chris Bosh- I wanted to put Dirk/Ibaka in here, but Bosh's all around game kept him in.

Honorable mention: Dirk, Duncan & Ibaka don't make it because the first 2 players are in the twilight of their careers and Ibaka's offense couldn't put him over the top.

C:

1.Dwight Howard- Don't you wish he didn't Always automatically get the top spot..? Me too..

2.Al Jefferson- CODE RED 'HOMER' ALERT - but is it..?? ...IS IT!?!

3.Joakim Noah- playing along Pau Gasol might make his game even better.. possible?

4.Marc Gasol- no one wants to bang with this pear-shaped bruiser.

5.DeMacus Cousins- see Lillard, Beal, Kahwi and Davis^^^^^^

Honorable mention: Brook Lopez & Drummond are both great, but Lopez has been hurt and Drummond needs another year of work to make the Top 5 cut.

Dishonorable mention: Roy Hibbert

    • be kind of hard with us going undefeated the rest of the year. yeah...i said it.
    • I don't think it's necessarily selfless to make that trade. I think it's all in how you plan and if you can objectively view the player. You know you're going to have a new coach and be taking a QB in the draft. Whether or not he wanted to admit it, we were going to be beginning a rebuild with a new offense and new defense. Depending on the coach, Burns may not have even been a good fit for the scheme that coach wanted to run.  So, if you're not 1st, you're going to need to trade up. Burns likely is going to want in the 30m per year range. While an effective pass rusher, he was never a complete DE. He wasn't a JJ, TJ, Bosa, or Garrett. He was more Reddick, and while good, never going to be in that top tier contract caliber.  So the question becomes, knowing that you need a QB to go with a new coach, is it better to have your  23, 24 and 25' 1sts  extra 24 and 25 1sts an extra 23'2nd  and 30m aav of future contract cap space to get a QB and edge rusher  Or your 23, 24 and 25 1sts and a good, but not elite DE on an elite tier contract.  6 picks and available 30m AAV in cap space vs 3 picks and 0 extra cap space to get a QB and a good, not great, DE.  To me that is a simple answer and frankly one that could potentially save my job. You have to have vision and be able to recognize value. Fitts over valued Burns like many fans did. I think ultimately what cost him his job was 3 years of not being able to value players correctly. We saw it twice in the draft in 2 separate years when he panicked and couldn't read the draft. DJ Johnson and Matt Corral picks specifically come to mind.  I don't think it was about being selfless as much as being a strategist. Neither Rhule nor Fitts never struck me as very strategic guys. I think they were more let's throw poo at the wall and see what sticks. Unfortunately for the fans, none of it stuck, but it still all stunk.
    • The issue is the formula is secret, and it incorporates runs... So... Yup, it does. Same with PFF (which isn't quite as secret). But when it doesn't - like on Sunday - it's often to hilarious results. PFF is more reliable I think at matching my 'eye' test.
