Am I the only one who thinks the Panthers will be even better this season?

i think they can be a better team and not reach the 12 wins.

i will have to watch a few pre-season games, and see how the o-line and secondary are holding up, before i make any real bold proclamations. i will say the loss to SF left me with a bad taste in my mouth.  i think this team can do better than that.

This team is built for a playoff run this year, if the O-line can stay healthy.  Losing Gross hurts, but Chandler is looking solid and continues to improve.  Getting Amini back and having Turner at RG improves the interior of the line tremendously.  If Bell is just mediocre, we should be able to run the ball effectively and give Cam enough time to find his newly found plethora of big targets.

If we can run the ball consistently, that will help our pass blocking tremendously because other teams won't be able pin their ears back and rush the passer.  It will also help keep our dominant front 7 fresh.

Stop paying attention to the media....they take away hope, any hope you might have.

I believe we will better also.

But I believe I will be living in a cabin in the mountains....all alone...with Hayden....so....

One thing is for sure since everyone in the media thinks we have no one at wr which is not true and we have a good season. Cam will be elavated as a qb in the media eyes and will start to get the respect he deserves because when they diss him after all the stats he has put up is unbelievable

we are set up well.  Franchise QB entering his prime, legendary front 7 on D, lots of very

young stars.  We have holes, and I agree we could be better and have a worse record.

Only one thing scares me.  If Cam gets hurt, we're not gonna win many games, unless it

is against a team in tatters.  He is flawed, but his ability to create time, first downs, sustain drives,

and manage the game is just as important as our front 7 on D.  He didn't get enough credit

for that last year.

Gano also deserves more credit, but if Cam misses games, we just don't have the personnel

to score points until we get out of cap hell.  We need more playmakers, and right now, Tolbert is

the only proven one on offense, and he is a short yardage playmaker.

I think we'll be better, how much better I don't know.

I don't know if that will reflect in a similar amount of wins, though. The teams in our division got better, along with teams in the NFC. And, last year, we had a few games where we got the lucky breaks and the other team didn't. You can't count on those every year.

Damn, I just went and looked at our schedule again. God thats a tough schedule. So, my analysis. We lose at Baltimore, at New Orleans, lose to Atlanta once, at Green Bay, Bengals. Tampa Bay is a wild card, Detroit is a wild card with new coaching staff. I say we beat Seattle because if we lose to them three seasons in a row at home, I just wont know what to say, plus SB hangover.

Steelers dont scare me, Big Ben is a bit overrated and their D sucks. Hmm, so maybe we grind out 9 or 10 wins afterall.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
