I tried to clear it up with the guy and explain what was going on.. if I posted the emails he sent me I feel a lot of people would lose his respect. But, I'm not the kind of ass who would do that.

He sure didn't have a problem making you look stupid. You should definitely post the emails

I agree... I agree, JJones works for a suit and still tried to shame you over Social Media for asking a question. It sure would warrant an unfollow of JJones is I had the other half of the story..

I stick to my morals. I wouldn't call someone out in the same fashion he did to me. I emailed him and flat out told him how I felt. I told him I genuinely admire the work he does, including others like Voth, Person, Bonnell, and our very own Zod. I explained I admire and respect these people such as himself because I hope to be doing the same in the future and I wouldn't dare try to take credit for someone elses work. During the emails it became apparent he was upset over 3-4 tweets I had made. By his standards I did plagiarize those 3-4 tweets. In my defense I did give him credit.... He just didn't like how the credit was given. I'm not going to try and make excuses though.

I told him I thought it was unprofessional to call me out in public for no reason when he could've DM'd me. After telling him how I was sorry and how much I admired his work he told me things such as "I needed to be taught a harsh lesson" I was being reckless and that I had a "reckless disregard for his work" He also somehow felt the need to mention that "the lies were continuing to pile up" even though this was the first time we had ever spoken to each other. I'm not going to mention anymore out of respect of his career and him as a person. I still enjoy his writing and think highly of him. Shame he didn't find the way I gave him credit to be suitable.

Also just a side note for everyone reading this. I'm sorry for the childish thread I made when that happened. I was extremely upset over what happened because I try to be reputable and professional as possible.

Maybe the guy is having a rough time in life and took his anger out on someone? I feel like I'd be stooping to his level if I posted them.

I don't know, but you may be right.. Going to bars and telling chicks he's a Panthers beat writer for the observer may not be going as well as planned.

It's a dog eat dog world, man. You don't crack the top 5 "must follow" list without hurting some feelings and having morals.

Post 'em....

Nothing good will come of this.. but...

Here's a tidbit

What I said:

I'm not trying to lift tweets from anyone. All I do is mention them as talking points for my followers. I try and make it a habit to source whoever it came from. I will admit I've obviously forgotten to give credit a few times. I extremely respect and admire what you and other writers do and I would never try and take credit for someones elses hard work. I deleted the tweet related to fanfest when I realized you blocked me, I knew you wouldn't see the tweet. I did have a post backfire on the Carolina Huddle. I was quite angry at the time because I didn't want to be viewed as someone who deliberately steals tweets. All I'm trying to do is have a fun time and start conversation with the fans on twitter. I just wish you would've DM'd me so I could of tried to clear this up.

His reply:

Here's why I didn't just DM you. You're lifting reporting with credit, as you did and as you have admitted. You're wanting to not just create conversation with fans, but you also want to gain followers for your personal gain as you build yourself into a reputable writer. In attempting to do so, you are using other writers and reporters. You are doing this publicly. Why would I DM you privately to quell the issue when you obviously don't respect me (you stole my work) and you're using me publicly to help yourself? Why would I, the victim of plagiarism, have to be the one to educate you on what plagiarism is? If you don't know, OK. But you need to learn. If this is your first lesson, sorry for the harsh education, but you needed to be called out.

All because he didn't like how credit was given on 4 tweets...

Jakob, just curious, do you own the domain youngincharlotte.com?

And as far as J Jones is concerned, someone needs to call the Whaaaa-mbulance, because there is some serious pansy-ass butthurt going on there.

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
