Deadpool

It was only 1 minute and 48 seconds, it was only computer-generated test footage, but it was definitely Deadpool — and it was definitely Ryan Reynolds' voice breaking the fourth wall.

Created some time ago by Culver City-based Blur Studios for 20th Century Fox, the clip leaked online curiously close to the end of Comic-Con

The high-res version has since been released(NSFW)

I imagine the positive reception is catching Fox studios attention..

Been waiting on it forever. The R-rated requirement is all that is holding the movie up, but you kinda CAN'T have a Deadpool movie and have it be faithful to the character if it's not rated R. He's all about running off at his mouth (which includes f-bombs), killing copious amounts of people in a gruesome way, and the occasional hook up with big breasted women. You can't make it PG-13 and have it work well. It HAS to be R.

If Fox ever wakes up and realizes that they have to go with this, they'll be thankful. The way I look at it, Deadpool allows for a LOT. The Wolverine/Deadpool rivalry is amazing. Wolverine is already a BIG draw. Having Wolverine facing a mouthy, funny, arrogant, badass equal in a movie? Yes please. Deadpool time-traveling? Yes please. Expendables has 3 fuging movies now. Deadpool is basically part comic book movie, part Expendables-style shoot em up, blow em up, totally badass, macho movie. It WILL do well in the box office.

I just can't see how a Deadpool movie would fail. Casual, non-comic readers might find it weird (4th wall breaking and talking to himself/speech bubbles isn't very typical for movies), but comic movie fans will love it, action movie fans will love it, and at least some portion of the rest of movie-goers will love it. Do. The. Damn. Movie.

Oh, and one last tidbit. Fox is about to start a Fantastic Four found-footage style film. And in this movie, they are telling the actors not to read the comics, because they're doing a "re-imagining" of the Fantastic Four characters. That's right. ANOTHER poo Fantastic Four (probably the worst yet, on paper) and yet they REFUSE to pick up Deadpool.

Love it! They absolutely nailed the character, which I honestly never thought they would be able to do. The only thing I might tweak, is see if Ryan Reynolds can gritty up his voice a little more. His voice was described in the comics as "gravel and gasoline." So I always imagined him having a Nick Nolte-esque voice. Reynolds may need to reign in the clowniness a bit to capture his darker, borderline suicidal, sociopathic side.

I've always said if Fox had any concerns about this bombing, they should do a kick-starter. Nerds, myself included, would happily donate to get this fugger made. And made R-rated.

Would have to have a good writer/director. mixing r-rated comedy and action has been a challenge to Hollywood but I think now would be a good time to do it with so many comic films coming out a character like Deadpool would be a nice change of pace.

Reynolds has a history of being in bad comic films but then again so did Chris Evans before Captain America..

He did some pretty good work in a film about a guy buried alive too (I forget the title; it was something simple).

Deadpool is a role that plays perfectly to his strengths though.  Way better fit for him than Green Lantern.
