Looking for a second house right now. I foster out of the one I live in right now so another place is essential to my health haha.

But some of you have awesome houses and got them at awesome prices as far as I'm concerned. MadHatter 5800 sf for under 6! Jesus. Arsen your house is super nice! And Cat yours sounds great too! And you guys got those for under 3! No chance I find anything like that for that price over here.

I went and checked out this one a couple months ago before it sold. Fell in love with it but my dad talked me out of it. But just so you guys have an idea of prices and what not here's a link to the house. Love the outside and great room.

2100 sf for 540 is roughly the going rate over here if you want newer and nice area. I see some of these house shows in some states and think to myself I need to move there!

Very nice. But it converts to only $500k in US dollars... lol...

Yeah we keep it around 74-76. My husband lost 50lbs a few years ago and now he's cold all the time and I'm always sweating and hot.

We are just the opposite....which makes no sense.

My wife grew up in Erie PA (they measure snow in feet up there).  I have no idea how she survived as cold as she always is.

Renting and owning both have advantages and disadvantages. People say if you rent, you're just throwing money away. But unless your town has a great market, owning means you are pretty much agreeing to live there for year after year after year. If you live in a fun city, perfect. But imagine buying a home in like Mint Hill or Fayetteville. Christ. You want to spend a decade THERE? Wow. I was lucky I was able to sell my place when I left Charlotte. My poor pops can't sell his place in Pensacola and I remember when I was a kid and we left Mississippi their house was on the market forever. Buying is like the biggest commitment there is other than having a kid. I'd much rather "throw money away" and live someplace different than be stuck with a gamble.

I'm at the point now where I won't even consider a house unless I see this................"first floor master"

Exactly...

Our place in VA was 2 stories with a full basement and my knees were beginning to give me problems. The place we bought in NC late last year is a single story and no basement. My knees began feeling better immediately.

Nice house :)

Im in Mint Hill too

$270k (bought a foreclosure)

All brick, 3200ish square feet, irrigation, 1/2 an acre, in ground pool and jacuzzi

In South Charlotte my house would be $500k.

edit: Middle School blows, the neighborhood beside us has a great middle school. :( So either we will be spending a poo ton on a private school or moving to a tini old little house in dilworth that cost more.

All may not be lost. When our daughter was ready for 1st Grade the school (because at the time we were on the wrong side of some stupid line) she was supposed to attend was a shyt hole for various reasons and we didn't want our daughter to go their. In California, public schools really want kids because they're paid per butts in the chairs.

Initially we requested a transfer to the new school we desired.

Denied.

Now we had started our daughter in a Montessori school early for Kindergarten so we explained to them either you give us the transfer or she stays in private schools. They found us a spot in the school we wanted.

It's all about the money for these administrators.

I don't know why but I think everyone on the internet is a weirdo and shouldn't procreate. But hearing stories like this make me incredibly sad. It's not like your daughter was an athlete trying to get into a school with a better team but was merely trying to get the best education possible.

Disagree.

Owning a home or two is a very good long term investment, as long as you aren't an idiot.
