Lloyd's as FG Kicker

Recommended Posts

* Lou Groza Award candidate,

* Honorable-mention All-American

* Big Ten's best pressure player by Street & Smith

* Rated as the fifth-best placekicker in the nation by The Sporting News

Clearly, this man is unable to kick a FG.

did not know any of that.. def good praise.

and based off of what little was seen last year, the bold was more correct than not..

Jan Stenerud is the only specialist kicker in the hall of fame. The others kicked in addition to other duties (George Blanda - QB, and Lou Groza - OL; though Groza was hardly induced for his blocking abilities).

I don't see why the snapper couldn't put a few more yards on it, he has to snap it much deeper for a punt anyway.

Atlanta had a punter in 2005 who used to do their long FGs. Can't remember his name.

I know I have read where Lloyd said that he ultimately would LIKE to be a PK. Whether that ever happens in Carolina who knows? But it could make for a difficult time re-signing him if another team will give him that opportunity.

Koenen, I do believe

he was kicking from the 50 in pregame warmups last season and was hitting them down the middle and about half way up the uprights. that was 60 yards and would have been good from 66 to 67 yards. of course it was from a ball holder and not from a snap with a live holder so who knows but he was long and accurate from 60 yards over and over again.

Y'all do realize Kasay was 90% last year, 12 of 15 from outside 40, his best year as a pro... He has the leg to kick it 60 he's barely missed from that range. And I'd trust him over Lloyd at that range even at his advanced age. Why even talk about the kick off specialist kicking a money shot when you can give Kasay a chance at it?

yep... preconceptions working at their finest when you hear "Kasay only has 1 or 2 years left"

I think it was last year that he said that he hoped the good lord would bless him with a couple more years. Maybe that's taking his words too literal, but that's typical for fans.

Yeah, but that doesn't explain the last 4 or 5 years when he's been shouted about needs to be replaced while still being one of the best in the NFL the whole time. That's all I'm saying...

Did someone mention something about a money shot?

I can see him getting a bat at one if there is a couple seconds left on the clock before halftime and Fox wants to try a crazy long FG. I can't imagine him kicking any FG's outside of that scenario. Kasay is one of the best kickers in the game. I want him kicking FG's for us as long as he can. Kasay at 70% is better than 95% of the kickers in the NFL.
