The reason why D.G had to put Gaffney on waivers....

Gettleman tried to sneak one by the goalie and lost. At least it wasn't something more valuable than a sixth rounder. More embarassing than anything.

Not really. Teams do this all the time. The pats just pulled a bitch move and broke an unwritten rule.

That's true, but after the patriots grabbed Jake Ballard from the giants, most teams are aware of the risk. That's why the Colts are holding onto their injured runningback. But as some have said, it may not be worth it to carry a dead weight roster spot.

Except that doesn't solve anything.

Cut a 'camp fodder' guy at some other position and not only have you cut a healthy guy for an injured one, but you're still down two runningbacks.

Cut a 'camp fodder' runningback and you're even thinner than you already were.

Neither of those options accomplishes anything worth the issues they cause.

Fine, assuming every single player on the 90 man is necessary, couldn't they have just PUP listed him? Doesn't that avoid waivers entirely?

Remember how Dallas fans were pissed when the Panthers took Matt Moore as they tried to sneak him through waivers onto the practice squad in 2007?

The Panthers ended up basically stealing a decent backup QB (of course, they fuged that up by trying to make him a starting franchise QB and watching him fail miserably instead of making him look good and inflating his value to trade to a desperate team like Philly does with their backup QBs), but it usually happens to teams that know where to find solid depth. I say it's a good sign for our new administration that Belichick wanted a guy we used a late round flier on and will not be able to see the field at all this year so much that they nabbed him.

Yeah at least it gives some validation to the pick. I bet Gman wishes he'd dumped a FA hopeful instead though.

I agree I can't wait til the day Stewart and Williams are gone. I went to training camp for two days. And both did not practice at all and neither would come sign autographs for kids or acknowledge the fans. Really damn sorry if u ask me. We will be better off without these two sorry players
