May need to trade for a return man if you want the Super Bowl.

 

If you look at all the teams who get to the Super Bowl, they have a strong return man. Mistakes at that spot are costly to offense, defense, and field position. Especially when the playoffs hit.

 

Any chance the Cards will deal us Ted Ginn back? Cards have no shot in that division. Give up a fourth, a fifth and a seventh rounder for him. Gettleman tossed that away on Bene and Tre this season. At least Ginn fills an immediate role, and he would make the Underwood, Pilares, and Brown competition moot.

 

Gettleman's Skype in draft day picks all look shot for the season. The undrafted rookies are looking better than Ealy, Bene, Tre, and Gaffney. Bittersweet I guess.

Ealy wasn't a Skype pick, and it's too early to write off any of them

 

I am not writing them off for their careers. I am writing them off for the season. They are injured, out for the season, unprepared, and very slow to pick up the basics for the NFL. If you are struggling with installing plays on the first day of camp, you are in trouble for the season. Veterans can pop in mid season and get it going. Rookies cannot especially with the rookie wall lingering. You can tell who put in the time to prepare for the season come week one of training camp.

 

On the other hand, Benjamin and Turner look great. They are in good shape. You can tell they studied and prepared since day one with the Panthers in May. Same can be said for Marcus Lucas, Carrington Byndom, and Philly Brown. All of them are putting themselves in a position to make an impact, and they have come well prepared to training camp. Never hold out hope for a rookie struggling in training camp. It is a waste of time. They are projects. There is always next season for them.

Things are getting even worse on the punt return front. Making them do push-ups now when they mess up. That is high school conditioning. This is pro level. Pay someone who can catch punts! Critical!

 

I don't think they made him (either Barner or Philly I forget which it was) do push-ups, they were all yelling for him to pick up the ball and he just dropped and started doing push-ups on his own.

Everyone knows getting Ginn back will not happen.

 

The Ginn suggestion is exaggerated to emphasize the glaring problem at punt returner.

 

The tie in to draft picks is to emphasize the inability to address this in the off season/draft with all the opportunities the front office had over the past several months.

Everyone is struggling at punt returner. Thus my previous post. Philly Brown is looking good at receiver compared to Underwood, Pilares, and Bersin. He is not noticeably struggling at his position like Bene and Ealy.
