Hardy talks......

gantt's take, for those wondering why he said what he did. note I don't agree with his take, just sharing. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/07/27/greg-hardy-hates-that-hes-been-a-distraction/

From the guy who has Rae Carruth as his avatar because he thinks it is cute.

Yeah... he is REALLY sensitive to women, by having a convicted wife and child murder represent him on twitter.

I always liked Gantt when he was still "local," but ever since the PFT hire, it seems Florio's douchey-ness rubbed off on him, as well as the habit of senationalizing and spinning stories from nothing.

This appears to be one of those cases.

He is also now going off on a soapbox about how Hardy used the word "distraction," because it could mean anything from woman beating to being gay.

Smh... must be a slow day at PFT.

This 100%. I used to really like Gantt, all the way until he lost the Panthers beat. After that he changed.

Need to start suspending and fining reporters for using their social power irresponsibly.

No evidence of Hardy throwing her on a bed of guns.

No evidence of Hardy "hitting" a woman.

He was found guilty of yelling at a woman and communicating threats.

Now the woman on the other hand and what she did... well that can be proven. But it is always the man on trial and the woman as the victim in domestic violence cases - even if it is the other way around. If Hardy is the aggressor it is news. If Hardy is the victim no one cares. It won't make money and get your articles read.

Hardy should have pressed charges when the police arrived from his 911 call and this would have gone a different direction. Lesson to all men dealing with women who are violent and vindictive; press charges first or the legal system will come after you since you are the man. If you take the macho approach of 'I am a man and she does not scare me', you will get burned every time. Lesson number two: when you have status and money around women who have a violent nature and history of cuddling up to the rich and famous; Get a restraining order.

What did Gannt expect? If Hardy publicly apologizes for beating and threatening the woman, his appeal is cooked. We don't know what happened. Gannt doesn't know hat happened. But assume Hardy is guilty, apologizing for a crime he vehemently claims he did not commit is a terrible defense strategy.

For all of the white knights coming forward saying the onus is completely on a man in these situations, i find their takes to be reflective of a lack of life experience.

A man's responsibility is to NEVER lay his hands on a woman. That being said, if they're dealing with an unstable, antagonistic, violent woman, how do they approach that once they're already locked into a situation? The easy solution is to walk away or call the cops. But, Hardy called the cops, with there being no proof that he hit this woman he had previously tried to distance himself from, and he still comes out of it a "woman beater."

Ray Rice has no excuse and is a piece of crap. He was in a public place and had the opportunity to walk away. I don't buy that as being a mistake.

But, when alone, in a private setting, there is no way to escape some sort of problem, either through imposed physical altercation or accusations. Some women use the principle of men never being able to hit a woman to their advantage by physically assaulting a man, knowing he can't do anything back. If it's me, I still walk away and call the cops. But, that's if they let you... what if she stands in front of the door and blocks your exit? What if she starts throwing stuff at you while doing so? If a man physically, but gently, grabs her by the arms and moves her enough so he can exit, she can now say he physically assualted her. But, none of what she did matters... and now that guy has to live with that label, whether guilty or not, the rest of his life.

That's garbage.

I've never had to deal with any of those issues, thank God, but it happens far more often than it is acknowledged. But, if we view a man as a victim, he becomes weak, so men don't want to call the cops...

Now, there are dirtbag men out there who hit women regardless of whether they are provoked or unprovoked, and they are filth. They should be prosecuted to the fullest. There is no excuse for a "man" like that. But, I get tired of seeing women completely exonerated of any wrongdoing when a story like Hardy's breaks, when in reality, she used public perception and the guise of domestic violence to exploit him. That is equally disgusting.

A man can apparently only defend himself and his house against other men.  If it's a woman trying to wreck his house and injure him...........then he must let it happen and pray to god that either she gets tired and leaves or he can run away before she does any serious harm to him.

It is BS.              Women know right from wrong.  Just like men should know right from wrong.    I don't care about gender...if a person is an adult then they should act like it.  Do not hit someone unless you want them to hit you back.   The fact that there is a double standard between the genders when it comes to right and wrong,  is disgusting.

No...he didn't say that, I did.If he hopes to stay here then he needs an agent that had more then $ signs on the brain.

So he needs an agent thats gonna tell him to think more about the team rather than get him the most money possible for the player he represents?............. What are agents jobs again?

Don't get me wrong, I love Hardy as a player, but I find it hilarious that he now "loves it here" when he knows he isn't going to get that huge payday following his legal troubles.  Pretty sure he knows he pissed that away so he might as well kiss up and hope we offer him something long term. But I highly doubt we will.

Business is business.

Hardy has never indicated that he didn't enjoy being a Panther and in Charlotte.

It's our media that might inevitably drive him away.

Hardy has always said he loved it here, always had respect for the team that gave him an opportunity. Dont think he would have been such a vocal standout guy so far if he didnt.

Gantt went a little overboard, yes.  However, the writing is on the wall.  It was carved into the wall when we drafted Ealy.  If you have a player who wants as much money as the average QB in the NFL, you make sure that the investment is sound.  Hardy is good, but he is not top 5 good.  He got his sacks in spurts and vs. weak sisters, so his negotiation is based on inflated stats--Gettlemen knows that.  Gettlemen is not going to play games with the head cases.  Smitty?

I read the transcript and did not see anything wrong with the comments.  Most were  "no comment" type answers but there was a comment where they asked about support and he seemed to be flippant toward the media regarding their support for him.  I think they took it as being flippant toward the situation overall.  Typical for the media and especially Gannt.   JP is still sucking on an eraser in the corner.  I predict  (actually its more like hope)  this will go away after the second preseason game.
