Hardy talks......

Gantt hates the Panthers and tries to belittle the team as much as possible, no surprise he would misinterpret something like this.

Still salty he got fired a few years ago. Great writer and good sources but a complete douchebag I wouldn't mind punching in the face.

I always liked Gantt when he was still "local," but ever since the PFT hire, it seems Florio's douchey-ness rubbed off on him, as well as the habit of senationalizing and spinning stories from nothing.

This appears to be one of those cases.

He is also now going off on a soapbox about how Hardy used the word "distraction," because it could mean anything from woman beating to being gay.

Smh... must be a slow day at PFT.

Before Hardy took questions, the Panthers' media relations department laid down restrictions that he would not address the ongoing legal case or questions peripheral to it. It was football questions only. Hardy struck to that, repeatedly.

"I'm excited to be in camp, glad to be back in the football season," said the fifth-year pro who led the Panthers with 15 sacks last season.

Has he talked to teammates to clear the air?

"Can't answer that question," he said.

Has he been a distraction to the team?

"I have distracted my team, but other than that I really can't answer that question," he said.

Did he apologize to teammates?

"Can't answer that question," he said. "It's a team thing. We're going to keep it inside."

Last year, Hardy tossed out that he wanted 58 sacks. He got more talkative when asked about that.

"I like that number still. I feel like it was a good solid, whole number, and I'm going to shoot for it again," said Hardy. "And I want to say this time I'm 'shooting' for it, so everybody knows. I didn't say I was going to get 58. But I am going to shoot for 58."

Gantt is saying on twitter that "Greg further embarrassed himself" today. It didn't sound that way to me from what was posted here...

Also, how do you embed the tweets?

I'd say this sounds like Gantt just making idiotic commentary but Gantt embarrasses himself every time he opens his mouth so I guess he's experienced in the field

Don't get me wrong, I love Hardy as a player, but I find it hilarious that he now "loves it here" when he knows he isn't going to get that huge payday following his legal troubles.  Pretty sure he knows he pissed that away so he might as well kiss up and hope we offer him something long term. But I highly doubt we will.

I don't think he "pissed away" his big payday. For his ability, a team out there would definitely pay him handsomely if he was available. He may have knocked some change off his total, but he's not a leper. If we want to keep him, it may have made him easier to keep in that sense because he lost some leverage, but the further he gets away from it, the less it matters in terms of what he'll be paid.

Words cannot describe how much I loathe Gantt.

Try the veal? Try deez nuts, asshat.

If we can keep Hardy without making it too difficult to keep Cam and Luke, I am in.

He related to Hardy's ex when she got flown back to CLT from the Pro Bowl instead of the Super Bowl.

I could hear the sand in his butthurt grinding over Twitter.

I wish the NFL had the soft-cap and "Bird Rights" like the NBA has. Although, if that was the case under Hurney, we probably would be -120 mil cap-wise right now.

But, if you know a player is good, and you drafted him, you can keep him and pay him what he deserves without mortgaging your other future stars.
