The truth is Steve Smith is probably better right now, than anyone on our roster

Trying to compare players without looking at the financial ramifications of each player is quite pointless.

It is very clear that you are trying to create some active discussion (troll) on the subject so why don't you tell everyone what Smith's cap number would have been the next three years.  This way we will have a better understanding of the decisions that were facing the front office.

oh this is pretty tame

aceboogie trolled the boards all last year because he thought it was the biggest blunder of the first round when we selected star over deandre hopkins.  he quite infamously guaranteed that hopkins would be a bigger impact player for the texans than star would ever be for us.

oh yeah, and his off the charts football acumen resulted in a self-imposed one month vacation when we actually selected a wide receiver with our pick in the draft.

News flash...he is 35 years old and has had steadily declining numbers every year.Unless he finds the fountain of youth, then that's the reality. The WR corp haven't even played one down yet...and he was the number one guy on the 29th ranked unit...not to good.

Let's just forget about the cap and what keeping him would have cost us over the next three years. Let's just pretend the cap is a Kajillion dollars.

He was going to retire after this year. It cost US money to cut him this year.

I'm never going to be over it, and what's funnier is that most of you will join me once our offense is trash this year. I'm always just the first to the party.

it's going to suck when we regress from our 29th-ranked 2013 steve smith offense

Steve Smith, after 13 seasons with the Panthers, looking as if he had played his entire career in Ravens purple. From the swagger with which Smith plays, his nonstop mouth and his propensity for big plays, he’s a perfect fit with this group. Or, as linebacker Terrell Suggs said on Wednesday, “a defensive guy playing offense.” As for his on-field play, I counted four of the standout variety, where he either torched a defender down the sideline (CB Chykie Brown on a 50-yard bomb from Tyrod Taylor), faked a corner out of his shorts after a hitch (Lardarius Webb) or made like Gumby bending for a low pass to keep it off the turf. If Smith is healthy this season, look out.

Maybe he did find it.

I'm concerned about how good he's looking. He 's apparently been very, very impressive the whole camp.

Armanti Edwards looked really, really good in camp, too.

I like how OP wants to make that "You can't handle the truth!" kind of post without acknowledging the truth that Steve Smith was just an average receiver making Calvin Johnson money.
