Question about Stewart

I agree look at teams like the saints who usually makes running backs put up decent numbers. I believe as long as there is good blocking an average runner can get the job done.

Just like a good D-line can make an average secondary get the job done. Football starts up front. Hurney took the opposite approach.

28 was pretty dang good in 2011

Mendenhall was better that year and he had Doug Legursky blocking for him instead of All-Pro Kalil.

Mendenhall also just retired at 26 because he realized that he peaked years ago and would like to do something else instead of freeload on somebody's roster and fall in love with the exercise bike.

ppl want to stop bitching until he proves them wrong on the field! IMO he comes in healthy for regular season and give the running game a big boost...

Whatever you wrote here barely qualifies as legible but it sounds like you think Stewart's going to come back and light up the league. The last time Stewart did something of any significance in a game was in December 2011, while the Panthers were being blown out by the Saints. The Panthers could've gotten along just fine without him being here after 2012, but the front office insisted on making the mistake the smart people such as myself and Kurb saw coming a mile away.

Nothing lasts forever except for Hurney's bad decisions.

I'm not the only one who doesn't like him....

Jonathan Stewart can't stay healthy...surprise surprise.

It's gotten to the point where general nfl fans are ripping him for being off the field. Anybody who talks about football in my Facebook feed is starting to mention him, when nobody really talks about the panthers in general. I live nowhere near charlotte and neither do my peers so it's become common knowledge that he's comfortably injury prone here.

Beast when healthy, but he's becoming our new Dan Morgan. I so wish we could get out from under that contract. People bitch about DeAngelo's contract and rightly so, but at least he's out there trying to earn it.

Let's trade Stewart and his contract to NE for Gaffney. Win!

Oh the great wise one you should be a GM in the NFL instead of a poster on the Internet. His contract was a bad decision on Hurney's part, and any player would have taken it if given the same chance. IMO Stewart comes in healthy this season contributes to a winning season, maybe not worth his total contract but enough to take our running game to another level.

These players with fat contracts are counted on to be in shape and ready to work.  Pulling a hammy is lack of conditioning and not keeping your body in shape.  These guys are paid not only for their ability, but on their work ethic.  Stewart is never ready for the Spartanburg heat and does not put in the effort to be ready for camp.  Gettleman will give him the hook as soon as the contract allows.  give the money to a hungry player wanting to play pro football.

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
