Question about Stewart

Given his time missed in the past couple of seasons and now with the possibility of missing this preseason, if he returns for the regular season how well can we expect him to play?  You hear about developing the chemistry of the o line,  chemistry between Cam and his receiver.  How much chemistry will Stew have with the rest of the offense,  assuming he is healthy enough to play?

If he's healthy, it'll be a huge boon, and not just because carries will be split three ways instead of two. He's a great receiving option and is a good enough power back to make defenses think twice about assuming Tolbert or Cam will get all the goal line carries.

If he gets healthy in time for game 1, the real question is how long will he stay healthy? If he pulled a hamstring just by simple training... how will he hold up in actual games?

Little bit of luck hopefully this is the end of the injury bug like it has been for TD. If he recovers faster he will get a chance to play in the last 2 pre-season game to get his feet wet. Having Stewart along with the young interior OL will move our run game from average to top.

I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but after his appearance on This Is Gross I came away with a very poor outlook on his hunger to produce in football. He seems more concerned with taking his sweet time to be "100%"

At this rate I think he's good for one half and 35 yds on 6 carriers before he hits IR.

I'm beginning to suspect that these light injures are made up. Let's be clear, I'm not calling him a liar but he always manages to skip camp. Seriously. He's living life and gettin' paid by hardly working. I think it's obvious that he doesn't really care about career stats or progression.

Stewart, unfortunately, is an injury just waiting to happen. Trust me I'm a huge jstew fan. He just cannot stay healthy. In his career, he rarely participates in camp...it's always a foot or ankle problem that keeps him out. BUT --- when healthy is a freaking beast, deceiving speed and quickness with POWER. I hate to admit it, but I'm now convinced that I want jstew to play more than jstew wants to play himself. I expect more from jstew than he expects from himself. We will never see jstew self actualize. Self actualize means "be all you can be". We cannot and should not depend on #28 going forward, he has proven to us time and time again he cannot be counted on to play/contribute. If he surprises us and makes any contribution it will be ver much needed and appreciated but consider it a gift. Our 2014 RB focus is again on deangelo and the lovable Tolbert, I feel good about that. Sprinkle in some barner, if he can make that step, and we should be serviceable.

Bottom line I just don't think jstew's heart or interest is in football...it hasn't been for several years.

Can you honestly blame him for that? After a succession of injuries I'd be hacked off if I'm touch-and-go for a game but still go out and set my recovery back a few months.

No matter how many opinions and pages this thread collects, it's gonna take Stewart hitting the field and the defense to find out what he's got left.

For me, a huge fan has some faith. Count me as a medium size fan.

That wasn't the tone of his response at all.

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
