Offensive Line Talk

I am no expert either, but I want to extend what Cape Fear said. I coached OL for a state championship high school team (3x) so, I know a little about the basics.   I am most interested in our situation on the OL.  I think the WRs are better by far, and I think the secondary is going to be better than last year--

I watched Chandler on the left side during the blitz/stunt drill.  He had PERFECT balance.  He worked inside out, his head turned quickly, indicating that he is reading his primary block quickly and checking down to the inside (his secondary block) nicely.  Hardy could not make him jump.  He knew the job, in my opinion.

Bell was surprisingly good, but not as good.  I thought Bell was a bit slow to react, but his balance was not as bad as I remembered.  His angle was not as sharp as it was on the right side last year, where he often made contact 5 yards deep behind B gap.  Chandler will be our LT--make no bones about it.  I think he will make his mistakes, but Chandler is not going to be a liability there.

Last year, when Chandler was inserted as the starter at RG, we were in SF playing the niners.  Fangio tried to attack him, but Chandler held his own.  That was a sign of things to come.  I like Chandler better than any OT in the draft except maybe Matthews.  We get Benjamin, Ealy, and find Chandler--it is like we are adding three first-round talents to the team.  I am pumped.

By the way, I saw little out of G Williams last night. I want him to be the RT.
