6'4"-6'6" 330lb range already on the team......

Geoff Schwartz (T), 2nd year guy (6'6" 331lbs)

Duke Robinson (G) Rookie, (6'5" 330lbs)

Jonathan Palmer (T) 2nd year guy (6'4" 336lbs)

Lonnie Harvey (DT) Rookie (6'3" 342lbs)

Now...the only one on the list that is a DT already is Harvey. So...with that in mind, should we not find another DT, or the other rookie DT's don't work out, could we take some of these other guys with good size and convert them to DT, instead of on the offensive side of the ball?? Give them a shot to see what they can do before we just cut them loose(if they are gonna get cut that is)

Just a thought, as we need help on both sides. I also know there is technique involved in each of these positions, and it's not just as easy as saying you go here and play, after years of playing another position. It has been done(though not often that I know of), but what do you guys think? Flame all you want to, I realize it isn't as easy as just saying it, and it happen.

Is it not worth plugging them in and trying them if we know they aren't gonna make the roster at their original tryout position?

Flame away, but just thinking, and wondering out loud as we really have to address some issues either way.

So what do you think? Not many guys of these guys size and stature out there on the open market. Maybe with experience, and at what cost?

Never know till you try is what I say, and when you are desperate.....well.

If they were to pillage what little o-line depth we have to try a Dt experiment I for one would be calling for heads to roll.

I did say.....IF THEY WEREN'T going to make it at current tryout position, or going to get cut, or something like that ya know.

I mentioned that earlier as well.

Great teams like NE and the Bears have taken guys and played them on both sides of the ball.

If we need big guys to just stuff the middle there is not much to coach about "take up space" and plug the middle..

I would consider it.

Matter of fact so would every other team in the nation who needs size in that area and doesnt have it.

I think with our cap problems it could be a smart move, and worth trying.

you never know..

I am like you, sometimes you gotta step outside the box. Hmmmmm we have decision to make. Move to the defensive side of the ball or.......go home? I could take my chances and maybe get on with another team. Or learn how to get my fat A$$ in the way so the LB's can make some plays. Blocking for the Defense... I can do that.

Lonnie Harvey is my bet to make the team just for that reason alone. He is our only Beef at 342 lbs. All the other lightweights at 300lbs just don't cut it anymore.

Two different skill sets, just being big doesn't mean you can play DT.

But it also doesn't mean you can't play DT.

All a matter of will and determination. These guys are used to being in the trenches. If I were 340+ and they wanted me to switch to DT because they thought I could do. I would in a heartbeat I and I bet these guys would too. 2.6 Million can sign a pretty good player but that would leave us nothing down the road. So, I think in the position we are in, this could very well be a possibility.

Anyone willing to learn can do anything they desire. Are they going to be stars over night probably not but in a pinch. Who knows.

    • Here comes Frankw and his pathetic little persecution complex to claim I have a personal vendetta against one of the worst performing coaches in the league if anything I should love Canales because he’s walking proof that through the lord all things AREN'T possible.  This kind of performance is exactly what you’d expect from someone who filled the building with misunderstood Bible quotes about iron forging iron and inspired speeches about how he apologized for his infidelity by buying his wife a book deal.  once more into the breech dear friends, just like when I paid a stripper for an above the pants hand job in Orlando.
    • As dumb as it probably sounds, we should have won that game.  Defense was bad but Bryce should have been better.  Pass rush isn't a good enough excuse.
    • You and I both know there isn't a coach we could or can still hire that can "fix" Bryce Young. Even at mighty Alabama with one of the best modern coaches in college football history Mac Jones was still a better QB than Bryce Young. Mac Jones.... We already know how you feel about Canales on a personal level so in that regard you wanting him fired is not news. You don't have to disguise it behind this shroud of rabble about not fixing Bryce Young. To his credit he somehow had us competive against the Chiefs and the Eagles on the road with #9. But no coaching staff can overcome their starting QB turning the ball over 4 times. We definitely have developed some of our younger offensive pieces. And as far as Evero goes he has earned criticism and if he's fired so be it but in his defense many of us said in the offseason this defensive roster was a disaster waiting to happen given the resources we spent on the offense while neglecting the defense. That was Dan Morgan's plan. He swung too hard toward offense to salvage the Bryce Young trade. That's on him. We can scream about XL all we want but at least he's actually been on the field for the most part. The Brooks pick was a luxury pick at the time and now it is a Hurney level blunder. Dan Morgan has gotten a lot of early praise here when in reality he's unequivocally deserving of significant criticism. But if you say that some people get up in arms because he's a former Panther. Big whoop. He has just as much to prove this upcoming season as Canales. That's why to me in my own personal opinion I say one more season and then if it's more of the same say goodbye to both.
