Jaw Does It Again

“I’m taking Foles,” Jaworski said. “Not even close. Russell Wilson is just . . . because of that system he is in. Russell Wilson plays with that defense, the best in football. He just managed the game very well. I think Russell Wilson has played terrific, a great maturity, but I’m going to take Nick Foles.” (PFT-Florio)

Jaworski deducts points for being a mobile QB when he should be adding them. I think he is still bitter about being replaced by Plastic Man. He failed to mention that the Eagles have the number 1 ranked rushing offense. That's not number 20, not number 10, not number 5. They rushed for more yards than anyone. And Lesean McCoy is so dangerous in that offense because he is a threat with or without blockers. They can put 6 defensive backs out there to combat 4 WRs and all of them have to be mindful of Shady.

And lets cover one very, very important fact. The Eagles play in the NFC East. In the 2013 season they had the NFC North, AFC West, Bucs, and Cardinals.

They played the Giants twice who were 8th in total defense. They played the 6th ranked Cardinals once and were held to a modest 24 points. That's it. Three games against top 10 defenses. No top 5s.

Okay, so how many bad defenses did the Eagles play? ALL OF THEM. The Eagles played a combined 4 games against the three worst defenses in the league. Dallas, Minnesota, and Chicago. The Eagles were the 4th worst, always needing more points to stay ahead or catch up. They played 8 games against bottom 10 defenses.

In contrast who did the Seahawks play? 8 games against the top 8 defenses. Carolina, New Orleans, San Fran twice, Arizona twice, Houston, and New York. Seahawks were rank 1, so take the Seahawks out of it, they played 6 of the next 7 best defenses in the league.

The Seahawks did also play the Jaguars, Falcons, and Vikings. They scored 45, 33, and 41 points on them.

Now lets take this around to the Panthers whom have been ripped for our statistically low ranked offense. Let's take the top 10 defenses (excluding ourselves). We played the Seahawks, 49ers, Saints twice, Bills, Jets, Cardinals, and Giants. 8 games against top 10 defenses.

The Rams were damned good on defense too, they just struggled with the loss of their QB.

TLDR  If jaws wants to hold the Seahawks defense against Russel Wilson. Then he needs to hold the NFC East, North, and AFC West defenses against Foles. And while he's at it. Stop holding Cam's defense against him. You didn't give him credit when the defense stunk and he had to toss it all day as a rookie.
