Question: If this keeps up,do we cut the cord this year

Just want to lay this out there.....sometimes you have to bite the bullet and take the hit. If Stewart starts his annual "constantly hurt" routine, does the team cut him this year and take the huge dead money hit now with the lower salary payout or the opposite situation next year? I will give him the benefit of the doubt that this is just a hamstring tweak and will actually be back for camp/season,but I have little confidence that this is the case. D.G seems like the type of GM that would do things that we would least expect.I know some will scream "the dead money!!!!! Can't do this!!!!! Our cap!!!!!.......but how long will D.G. have him string them along without any production. He drafted Tyler Gaffney with this in mind I believe (whether he s a starting back is yet unknown). At this point any thing may be better then what Stewart has been doing for this team. So the question....if this keeps up,does D.G. Bite the bullet now and somehow work the dead money around the cap or does this linger on for another season or more?

Maybe we should take a look at how much training camp J-Stew actually HAS participated in before we start thinking about letting him go. I honestly can't remember him ever being on the field consistently in camp. And this is only a 1-2 week stint.

I think Stew makes up injuries so he doesn't have to participate in training camp. Other than rookie year, I don't know if he has ever fully participated in training camp.

I doubt stew stays healthy, but I don't think this particular hammy injury will be the reason.

As I said....benefit of the doubt that he will actually play. Let's see what occurs this preseason and and the actual games begin. Past history doesn't trend towards a positive outcome.

We would require almost 14million more to release him than to keep him meaning roughly 9 or 10 more than we have right now. Unfortunate no....and next year its still not that easy. What an awful contract.

Jonathan Stewart had his 2014 base salary reduced from $1.5 million to $785,000. In feb

It's unclear if the $715,000 difference was converted to a "signing" bonus to create a bit of additional cap space, or if Stewart took a straight pay cut. Either way, Stewart's roster spot isn't in jeopardy due to an enormous amount of dead money ($18.185 million) it would create if Stewart were released.
