Salary means nothing.

Cap hit means everything, and is really important when talking about dead money if cut.

It's almost impossible to cut Stew until after the 15 season, and even then you are talking about 7.3 million in dead money.

Cut his ass now and it's 18 million dead.

Cut him next offseason and it's 13 M in dead $.

Cut him after the following season and it's still 7M in dead money.

This is the worst contract on the books, and one that I hated from day 1.

Really think their should be more incentives in most contracts, especially long term deals. 

 

Can you imagine if Stew had remained healthy the last few years? Same with Otah.

 

Hindsight is 20/20. Some guys just have a knack for staying injured, and it sometimes it's a toughness deal and sometimes it's just bad luck.  Either way, it's a terrible contract because Stew had a history of being banged up.

You could designate him a June 1 cut and spread the dead money out over 2 years.  You would then free up about 2 million in both 2015 and 2016.  Depending on his production this year, I wouldn't be surprised at all if something is done next year.

Stewart is jinxed.  Dude could shatter his knee by tripping over a ladybug.   No doubt in my mind, Stewart will up on IR before the season is over.  Can't wait until we get rid of this guy.
