Justin Blackmon, not Josh Gordon, is now the dumbest player in the NFL

Blackmon is actually a legit alcoholic and really needs to seek help.

What Blackmon needs to do is cut off his enablers and his "friends." It is those same people that bum off him that will help him ruin his career.

Both those guys had the potential to be elite receivers. It is a shame they have substance abuse issues.

His problem isn't weed, it's booze, and he was likely self medicating. Alcohol is just as bad as anything else. If you've never dealt with someone who is a legit alcoholic and not just drinks too much, count your blessings.

 

The Jaguars say they "haven't heard much" from suspended WR Justin Blackmon, and "it doesn't sound like it's going in the right direction."

 

Several teammates and members of the organization have reached out to Blackmon, but he rarely replies to texts or calls. Blackmon's high school coaches have "lost contact" with him. Cecil Shorts and others who do have contact with him indicated Blackmon is "seeking professional help" for his substance abuse, and has checked into rehab. A college coach of Blackmon's says the receiver admitted that he's "getting help." Blackmon caught 29 balls for 415 yards and one score in four starts last season. The 24-year-old's talent has never been questioned.

i disagree with drug use for a lot of reasons. but youre absolutely right. the double standard here is appalling. sure, weed is addictive and its bad for one's health. but so is tobacco and alcohol, and yet no one bats an eye at people/players who drink and smoke tobacco. but smoking a joint, even smoking habitually, is nowhere near as bad as beating up a woman. a two game suspension is a fuggin slap on the wrist for what Rice did. personally, i feel like a year suspension is cruel and unusual for the crime committed.
