Velasco started 11 games at center for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season before suffering an Achilles injury. Undrafted out of Georgia in 2008, Velasco signed with the Tennessee Titans and after spending most of his first two seasons on the practice squad played in every game from 2010-2012. He started every game in 2012 -- 13 at center, three at guard.

Matthews, son of Hall of Fame guard Bruce Matthews, was originally signed as an undrafted rookie by the Tennessee Titans in 2010. He appeared in 17 games with three starts for the Titans, playing in three games as a rookie and in 14 games in 2012.

Matthews spent training camp last season with the Washington Redskins before being waived in the final roster cutdown and rejoined the Titans late last season but didn’t appear in any games. He was Texas A&M’s starting center for the final 25 games of his collegiate career.

Word on the street is Kalil bruised his face playing with clown makeup at the park.  His accordion fell off the stand and the organ grinder monkey ran away with his medicine so things are a little crazy down at the farm but I think these signings make up for it.

Kalil is safe for this year. He has a $7.3M cap hit, but there would be $18.5M in dead money if he was released. The cap hit vs. dead money is pretty even in 2015 with a $11.8M cap hit and $12.1M dead money. In 2016, he'll either be gone or get extended.

My god... we're going to have a center with an $11.8M cap hit...

Na, they will restructure and Kalil will get his $$$ up front.

Not worried.
