Training Camp Coverage - You Tell Me

Recommended Posts

What are some of the players favorite places to eat in Charlotte?  What is their favorite thing to do to relax?  What is their favorite songs of all time?  What's the craziest thing they have seen a fan do to get an autograph?  What was their 2nd college pick before going to their alma mater?  Will any college football teams in NC ever win a National Championship in their opinion?

We have lots of guys that will go down and comment on play by play stuff or formations. Who is dropping balls etc. What you have Zod that we do not, is access. This is difficult for you because if you report negativity from ground level, you could lose the access.

But just give us something that no other source is. Observe player and coach interaction. Who looks motivated. Who looks hurt. Who has fear in their eyes. If you interview players, don't waste time asking them about their teammates, they will tell you everyone is great. Ask guys about themselves. Did they do any specialized training to prepare for camp?

I love the pictures and big picture commentary. But anything you hear or see that fans have not heard or seen will be appreciated.

Keep an eye on:

1. Marcus Lucas contributing in 3rd down and red zone packages.

2. The impact of the new young offensive guard tandem around Kalil.

3. The development of Nate Chandler.

4. Jonathan Stewart's health/impact.

5. The packages the Panthers are using in the red zone - 2 or 3 TE sets with pass catchers? Single back 2 TE set with Tolbert as the back? Will they use Kelvin Benjamin at TE in the red zone in 2 TE sets?

I would love to see a no huddle single back 2 TE set used in the red zone that starts with a 5 WR set with Cam in the shot gun to start. You have Kelvin Benjamin and Marcus Lucas out wide with Cotchery in the slot. Olsen and Tolbert stacked off Chandler at LT. Look for the match-ups and run out of this formation with a Cam WildCat with Trai Turner Pulling behind the Left side leading Cam Newton. Or pass if you have a mighty midget on one of our giants with a Cam bootleg. From here allow Cam to audible to 2 other formations based on defensive personnel. A 2 TE set with Marcus Lucas and Cotchery out wide, Greg Olsen at TE with Kelvin Benjamin stacked off of Olsen as another TE, and Mike Tolbert in the single back set. Or, a power running formation with Greg Olsen and Mike Tolbert in the backfield, Cotchery out wide, and Lucas and Benjamin at the TE positions - these two wide receivers can deliver some crushing blocks on LBs and DEs. This would present so many mismatch combinations for defenses with their backs up against their own goal line. Pass it on to Shula and Ramsdell! They could do so much with this attacking style when they get to the red zone.

This = Super Bowl!!! A man can dream.
