I watched it, and I am not sure about the ending.

 

So the bad guy was just lying about it being too cold? Were they just circling the mountains? Did everyone else die in the crash, and there is just the chinese girl and the kid left to repopulate the world? Or were there other people left, just like there was a polar bear? I am so confused.

saw it the other day. at times it is disturbing, funny, strange, but always intriguing and most important a really good film

no he wasn't, it's just the chemical that poisoned the atmosphere was obviously fading away, or the climate was warming again, albeit slowly. the polar bear was a sign that life was able to exist outside, it is left up to the viewer to imagine how many humans are left alive.
