Tony Dungy: "I wouldn't have taken him." (Michael Sam)

He has a right to his opinion and his employer has a right to terminate him if they feel he has done or said something that hurts the imagine of the company. I hope NBC sends a message and fires him. His statement was bigoted and see as a society have an obligation to wash our hands with it.

They probably will fire him. If not there will be a lot of backlash for giving a black man a pass on bigoted statements after all the crap surrounding Sterling.

Dungy should've known better.

The interviewer should've immediately countered with, "So are you saying you wouldn't want The Golden Calf of Bristol on your team?"

Dungy would've choked on his tongue trying to backpedal.

Tony Dungy stood behind a man that drowned puppies in his bathtub. Sam doesnt deserve a chance though.

Dungy didn't say that Sams doesn't deserve a chance. He said that he would've given him one because he didn't want to deal with everything that came with it. That is no different that decisions that made regulary about players with off the field issues. He may be a very good player, but do you want to deal with it? How do you think your team will deal with it?

He doesn't want him because he is gay. Not because he gets into trouble him the law, or anything of that mature. Its because he is gay. That is bigoted. You're smarter than this.

On my phone so I'm not going back to find it but I saw several instances of people saying Michael Sam was "trying to get attention"... From everything I've seen it seemed like the exact opposite of that.

I used to feel like some of you guys do about homosexuals... Thankfully I changed my mind and don't anymore. They're people just like the rest of us.

Mike Vick-

Average college/pro QB, although one of the most exciting players of his generation. Low character and locker room cancer. Convicted of torturing, mutilating, & murdering dogs/puppies. Brings distractions, a large media following, and a highly negative view nationally.

"Give him a chance!" Tony Dungy, Christian

The Golden Calf of Bristol-

All-time great college player. Terrible pro QB prospect who refused to play any other position. High character and great locker room guy. Outspoken Christian who comes with lots of distractions and media attention.

"Give him a chance!" -Tony Dungy, Christian

Michael Sam-

Great college player. Below average pro prospect who may bring value as backup & special teams player. High character & great locker room guy. Openly gay man who will bring distractions and large media following.

"Nope! Too much of a distraction." -Tony Dungy, Christian

Guys, guys, guys. Tony Dungy is just giving his opinion. He isn't a bigot or anti-gay. Sheesh. Chill out.

The outrage is simply because of Dungys faith. If Rex Ryan said this it would be a non issue.

Some guys here were literally salivating waiting until Dungy finally said something. Now they have the biggest religious hater boner they have ever had.

Code this. Unspoken rule that.

Like others mentioned im sure Dungy had gay players but nowhere near the spotlight Sam had.

But people have their mind made up either way. Enjoy.

I don't know about ya'll but I sure as hell wasn't rocking back and forth in a room waiting for Tony Dungy to make a bigoted statement. He put his own foot in his mouth. The rush to defend him is hilarious, but not shocking. Had he said he wouldn't have drafted a white running back he would have (1 still been wrong and (2 NOBODY would be defending him or his "free speech". Again, if you have a problem with homosexuality, just admit it, and stop playing the passive aggressive card.

But what if they are doing curls in the squat rack?

Sterling didn't want black people at his games. Dungy doesn't want gay people on his team. There's not much of a difference.

He can use the "media circus, distractions" excuse all he wants. He's just another religious man who doesn't like gay people. Dungy almost signed Mike Vick & his media circus after he got out of prison. He had no problem with the media circus that would've came with signing a dog torturing POS, but sign a gay man? No, we just can't deal with all the media attention and distractions.

Horse sh*t.

Sterling didn't want his girlfriends to come to Clippers games with black men.

He didn't say on the recording he didn't want black people at his games.

Yes, both he and Dungy are entitled to their opinions, as much as most people may disagree with them.
