Winston says Benjamin blessed to play with Cam

UnderArmour are starting to market Cam over here in the UK the same way Nike do with LeBron James. They know that because the sport isn't major, name recognition isn't enough. Most people in the UK know LeBron James as that Basketball guy and hopefully soon Cam will be that NFL guy. Then if the NFL kicks off big time over here Cam will already be the face of the NFL over here.

A UK team would probably be bad for the NFL but great for Cam, I think he would instantly become huge in Europe thanks to UnderArmour.

Really?  That's pretty cool to know.  At the same time it's still sad to know that the same thing isn't happening over here.  We've got the second coming of Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck hype machine over here.

I remember how the 2012 Bears loss was edited to look like Cam's pick 6 (Smitty's slip) is what really lost the game for us. Just to continue the Cam can't close and he's not leader bs that they loved to force on ppl.

Maybe that's why he did so many game winning drives at the end of the game?

I could be wrong but does Luck have any major endorsements like Cam does with UA? For that matter do any NFL players? Cam's the face of UA in the same way that MJ was the face of Nike back in the 90's. Can't say that about any other NFL player to the best of my knowledge.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Sick burn, yo!

Dude! You shouldn't limit yourself to just this board. You're doing the world a disservice by only posting on here. Go put that on Twitter, because that will get like 50,000 retweets by 8 o'clock.

Luck is with Nike I think, but yeah there's plenty of endorsements for other athletes over here.  I just meant off pure media backing and hype, never seen him in a commercial though.  The media is very influential in forming the general population's opinion.

Peyton Manning used to have a new commercial every week it seemed like back in his heyday, and he's still got all the Kia, Papa Johns, etc. commercials.  RG3 was everywhere before and after his rookie year and UA pumps him up a lot over here... they've honestly latched on to RG3 more than Cam it seems IMO.  But then again the Redskins are a huge market team in the States along with the Cowboys and Steelers.  Cam is still extremely popular for us to be such a small market though.  More so than any other athlete we've ever had.  Extremely polarizing... it seems everyone at least has some sort of opinion on him, whether good or bad.

That's why I thought it was weird and cool that you said Cam is the face over there.  At least they realize given a neutral audience that Cam is far more marketable. :P  Lol, outside of the laptop thing when he was like 18 years old, Cam might be one of the most naturally marketable athletes to come along in a while.  I imagine if we string together a few back-to-back winning seasons (and hopefully win a Super Bowl)  Cam's popularity will soar through the roof.

Let's not forget all the out of context overblown press conferences.  Cam could've done a better job with them, but that poo was so stupid.

Hell, even after the playoff game ESPN doctored that conference to make it look like he walked out on the media when asked about the Kap Superman thing when in reality he finished up and the conference was over.

I really don't understand why they push that agenda so hard.  Cam is a marketing gold mine if they'd open their fuging eyes and realize it.

Espn doesn't make it's money just promoting athletes. They love building up and tearing down these guys because it gives them every angle to get more views. It's sickening sports journalism in the end.

Cam has a lot of street cred among players of all level. It's weird that I never read a young player think highly of Andrew Luck.

I think it's because Luck hasn't won anything yet. He is a very good young quaterback that should go far but he didn't win anything in college and hasn't really won anything substantial in the pros yet.

Most of the other young quarterbacks get their credentials because of championships or top college honors such as the Heisman.

If we take certain givens, like some media is indeed paid to ignore or hype certain things, then we have to assume that this wasnt racial but monetarily driven. If it was monetarily driven then someone has to make money somehow somewhere for investing in it in the first place.

I feel like, and this is a long shot, big money* wants Cam out of Carolina. He would be have gigantic fame across the country (and the world) if he was in Washington, or perhaps Dallas etc. He is a marketing dream so far. Stays out of trouble, motivated, hell of a QB, speaks like a preacher and inspires people. I feel like since his first season passed some big players with lots of money are paying to keep the hype down on him so they can make a play when his contract is up. Idk, its a pretty weak argument.

*not to be confused with Big Money

I feel a lot of that has less to do with them wanting cam out of Carolina, but rather none of them grew up panthers fans and would rather pick at the new guys , rather than treat them as they do the teams they grew up with, (stealers 9ers giants cowboys and redskins) I'd say the editors are like 50 and have nothing better to do ,and although it's sad we have a good 30 years before it changes , although on the bright side people are starting to really come around after last season , hence them attributing our failing to put forth back to back winning seasons , not on Cam but instead on our receivers and offensive line.

And another low blow from the pundits. This one is from Bucky Brooks telling Winston he should choose another role model and not Cam Newton.

Jameis Winston misguided in Cam Newton comparison

And of all people he saids he should model himself after Joe Flacco. Winston is thinking Brooks has lost his mind.

Cam Newton is a game changer Bucky Brooks, and the true young talent sees that when they watch him play. He moves his team down the field and he can change a game at any moment. Joe Flacco cannot.

The Panthers are looking to have the best red zone offense in the NFL. Cam Newton, Jonathan Stewart, and Mike Tolbert in the backfield. Greg Olsen, Kelvin Benjamin, Jerricho Cotchery, Brandon Williams, and a surprise talent I do believe in Marcus Lucas. That is night and day compared to the red zone offense the Panthers had last season with the mash unit at offensive guard.
