Cam Newton still limited in mobility

First off the pain he is experiencing is likely a normal part of recovering from surgery. He is going to have it as he continues to push himself to do more and more. Sometimes it is scar tissue breaking loose and healing. Other times it is the fact that he has done nothing for almost 4 months so he is going to be sore and feel pain as he builds the muscle back and heals.

But it is not unexpected and doesn't mean that he is not able to play in a few weeks. It won't be unusual to get twinges as the season unfolds and it might take another 6 months before he is totally pain free in all situations.

When I had ACL reconstruction surgery I could do every thing I needed to do at 8-10 months but it took over a year (almost 18 months) before I was pain free.

Yup I'd wager he will feel pain this entire season which he has felt the entire past three seasons but his ankle is healthy

This is absolutely something to watch, I lol at those taking it so lightly.

And I laugh at people making this a big deal when everything appears to be back on track.  I have heard nothing to the contrary and there is no reason to think this is a problem at this point.  In fact everything I have read suggested he is ahead of pace not behind.

That is what I think. It is one thing to be feeling pain when you don't do much physically which is the case with most people post surgery. But Cam will be doing everything he can to play as hard as he can and will be pushing the envelope so pain is going to be an issue particularly when he cuts or get tackled on the ankle and trust me people will be going for the ankle and giving it an extra tweek.  No player is pain free most of the time and it only gets worse as the season unfolds.  That was the problem with Otah.  He wouldn't play with any kind of pain and sat out all the time.  Hence why he is out of football.

Yea

Cam deals with a lot of pain, better than most I would say, which is why I'm not concerned because the tendons in his ankle are probably the healthiest they've been since before college.

He's already stated he doesn't do pain killers (which is good) so It's just how much pain he can withstand and him trusting it. He'll be fine.

Our Quarterback is still suffering from sharp pain in his ankle and you laugh at people concerned over that matter? This board is pretty good at confirming who does and does not know some of simple things about football.

Saying that someone still feels pain when pushing off on some throws is not the same as saying he feels sharp pain and there are issues.  If you played as must as you say you did, then you should know that.

Unless you didn't get hurt much which made you either indestructible or a role player. I have had enough surgeries to know the difference and the pain you normally feel in various rehabs.

Everybody is different so I just hope Cam listens to his own body and comes back at 100%. This isn't a doomsday scenario obviously but it's definitely a "proceed with caution". Slow and steady always wins the recovery race.
