How Hornets matchup against Top Teams in East

difference is player A is a few years younger and has yet to play with anything close to playoff talent.

look i love kemba, but he isn't irving. WTF is that so hard for some to admit on here. we got henderson needs to be cut, kemba is better than kyrie, vonleh and kobe being compared together, what else?

Listen I really don't think I'm being a homer. I truly don't. Irving is a tremendous talent and he could one day be really good. But he needs to work on defense and caring about the team. He prolly will now that Lebron comes to town. But I want a player with heart and dedication and leadership.

This was the first year Kemba had one really good player around him and he stepped up. So it goes both ways with the talent on both teams. Although Cleveland had some talent IMO. They just couldn't put it together and Irving is supposed to be the best player and lead them. So don't gimme that talent crap. It's a two way street.

That's alright I'll stand by Kemba. Y'all don't have to. This is my team and my point guard and I'm thankful we got him when we did bc he helped turn us from the laughing stock of the league to potential contenders this year and following years. I'm grateful for him.

Is he magic Johnson? No! Is he the best pg ever? No! But pound for pound he's the toughest most competitive pg and I wouldn't put my money against Kemba no matter who he's playing.

More fun with advanced metrics. Here is Kyrie's and Charlotte's PG's defensive real plus minus, which measures defensive impact per 100 possessions.

10. Kemba Walker: 0.79

64. Luke Ridnour: -2.76

66. Jannero Pargo: -2.84

72. Kyrie Irving: -3.38

That rank is only among PG's.

I posted this in a thread a while back when fans were discussing whether or not Kyrie deserved a max.

Not a fan of Kyrie's, and I don't want to see the Hornets offer a max (which is what Kyrie is getting from Cleveland/straight from the horses mouth) to a player that is moderately better than Kemba.

He's a very talented player but he's not the right fit for us.

First off he's not a leader, Cleveland has had more problems than any franchise in the NBA. Not to mention, when LUOL DENG (one of the quietest players in the NBA) says he wants out; there is obviously a problem. Superstars lead but instead Irving and Waiters find it more convenient for them to be at each other's throats.

Secondly, Irving is a one way player and his teams defense is significantly better when he's not on the floor. When Irving is on the floor the Cavs allow 106.3 points per game, when Irving is off the floor the Cavs only allow 99.5 points per game (that is good for 5th in the NBA). Furthermore that seven point swing would have been the difference in 20 of the Cavs games last year. However, not only does his team defense suck, his solo defense is below average. Opposing point guards post an 18.6 player rating against Kyrie (the league average is 15.0). Players are also scoring on him (0.90 points per possession) just as much as he scores on them (0.93 points per possession). So essentially his offense and defense wash out meaning that he doesn't affect the game.

Now I know some people are going to argue that Carmelo Anthony is also an awful defender. While that is true, his statistics are a level above Irving's which allows him to have a net affect on the game.

Personally, I don't want a player on the roster who commands max money and doesn't affect the game.

I consider myself to be pretty realistic when it comes to looking at NBA players, and Kyrie isn't that much better, if any, than Kemba. Can he score slightly better? He sure can. That's the only facet of the game where he is better, he certainly isn't the superstar player some claim him to be.

look, i love me some kemba, but he ain't on KI level. can we get off that homer level?

What makes kyrie on this high level above Kemba? Bc they pretyy much average the same thing. Irving got 3 more points per game as the number one option and Kemba averaged 1 more rebound per game as the smallest player on the court. They assisted the exact same number. And Kemba was number two option while feeding big al In the post every play

So besides the espn ankle breaker high lights of Irving. What does he have on Kemba. U do know Kemba has a tight handle too don't ya? And breaks defenders down too. U watch too many highlights and not enough actual game of Irving.

Everybody has a highlight reel and they always usually look good. Sooooooo

+- is fun, but it's better to compare players on the same team.

Without being a dick about it I'll explain.

Anytime kyrie is guarding someone they score.

Anytime Kemba is guarding someone he effectively stops them from not scoring every time
