If we are being honest he most likely needs to have a great camp as a special teamer in the return game to make this roster. I really hope we can find him creative ways to get the ball in space this pre-season because he just isn't a running back that's going to run between the tackles in the NFL. If Barner is to reach his potential here in Carolina it will be in a Sproles type role and he actually need to put him in position to get those touches. Outside of Underwood he is probably the fastest and quickest player on this offense. I for one am not confident Shula and co. can use him correctly. Running him the same way we do the rest of our backs isn't going to bode well for him because he isn't that type of player. I have a feeling if we drop him some team with a creative head coach/OC will scoop him up quickly.

He deserves an opportunity before we all deem he should be sht canned. Deangelo is fighting father time and Stewart is rarely healthy. I would think most here would want Barner to do well. He's obviously is quick and has talent, but he was a 6th round rookie who needed to bulk up. So he had that against him. Plus we aren't paying him 10 million a year to produce so he's not going to get a lot of touches. Stewart and DWill likely won't be here much longer. Between Barner and Gaffney, one of those guys needs to pan out.
