If You Are Cho: Does Hendo Stay?

I think the front office will trade him for a veteran PF/C sometime before the season starts. We really need a veteran post player who can play minutes. Zeller, Vonleh, & Biyombo is a young, inexperienced, & very mediocre group. Henderson has been replaced & there's now a log jam in the back court. He also has a large cap hit. He's the only one who provides trade value and could possibly be traded for a decent front court player.

Roberts, Neal, Hairston, & Taylor (Marvin if needed) can adequately handle back up duties for the 1-2-3 positions. We desperately need a quality big man. We don't need Henderson.

Say goodbye, he's gone.

He's got to go. Real good NBA 6th men aren't defensive stoppers with no jump shot. There's a reason this team struggles to score at times

yes, because neal wasn't apart of so many leads given up that the starters created.  there is more to basketball than spot up 3 ball shooting.  saying neal plays defense would be insulting those who have ever played defense.

i'm not far off from this line of thinking, with the key being who is this vet presence that will get minutes for hendo w/his contract situation?  if there are only scrubs, then the hornets are much better off keeping henderson.

Find a team with the opposite situation of us. Someone who has an overpaid veteran post player they don't need and has a need for a wing player. Swap players. Rather overpay a bench player at a position of need rather than one we just drafted and spent big on in FA.

my thing is this team is in good shape financially and hendo's contract isn't a killer.  certainly not one i would be willing to make any crazy moves just to unload.  i'd only get rid of him for something really team friendly.

the team has 4M left on the cap and if cho were that worried about big-man depth they could have gotten boozer w/o making any moves at all.  the fact that it doesn't even appear they made a bid tells you where the FO are on that.

What did this team lack the most last year someone who could spot up and shoot threes and take psi off of Jefferson. I don't care for Neal either I say ship him and Henderson off. Signing Lance made Henderson absolutely expendable. Is as good of a defender if not better and is a playmaker something no one will mistake Henderson of. We have very good defenders without him. And pj sucks defensively but he can score the freaking ball. this team needs consistent scoring other than big al

2nd unit-

Brian Roberts

Gerald Henderson

Jeffery Taylor

Cody Zeller

Bismack Biyombo

That is absolutely terrible. One of the worst benches in the league. The only one who can score is a undersized PG. Stop talking about how Henderson is this great defender. He'd have to turn into Scottie Pippen and keep the other team from scoring at all, because that group isn't scoring anything. He can't score as the 4-5th option with the starters, he damn sure won't be able to score as the go to guy surrounded by that group.

You move Henderson for a veteran post player who can score and make PJ the backup SG. Then you have a pair of guys off the bench who can score in said post player and PJ. Taylor is a great perimeter defender and Biyombo is a phenomenal rim protector. It's okay if PJ isn't Pippen defensively.

PJ can play the 3 some

Plus you can stagger the rotation like we did last year and have Stephenson in the game with some of the second unit, much like we did with McBob last season.

Oh, and Henderson doesn't just suck, can we stop with all that noise? He may not be a legit starter, but he is a pretty good player who can score, and brings good effort on defense.

I don't see any real need to trade anyone right now. What happens if we have injuries?

Depth is a good thing, and moving Henderson just for the sake of moving him is dumb. If we move him we need to be improving

some of you guys are something else.  really, i get a laugh reading some of these huddler GMs.  PJ the backup?  wow!  i love what the guy will do for us in the future, but let's keep this discussion on planet earth. cut henderson?  lol  funny stuff coming from folks who obviously have no idea how these things work, financially.

Henderson is not that bad of an offensive player. Do people not realize that PJ HAIRSTON SHOT 1 % better from the 3 last year then Hendo did? And Henderson did it in the pros, meaning he got open against professionals, or he shot over professionals. A lot more impressive if you ask me. Stop bitching about him and be glad we have a proven veteran who can drop double digit points consistently as our primary scorer off the bench. That 2nd team is not that bad.

    • I didn't say much bigger. Watch the highlights I linked. Bryce doesn't have the arm strength and/or talent to make the vast majority of the throws Mac made in that video.
    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
