Hardy found guilty

So if a guy hangs out with rough women, he deserves what he gets?

If a woman is dressed like a slut and drinking in a hotel room with a bunch of horny men, and wakes up to discover she was raped, does she deserve what she gets?

Simply hanging out with rough or shady characters should never be an automatic indictment on a person for what happens next.

You are the company you keep.  Didn't your momma teach you anything???

Ever hear of putting yourself in someone else's shoes? You should try it and then maybe you wouldn't feel almighty. I think looking at things from a different perspective is very relevant. Hardy may be a monster of a man, but that doesn't mean a psycho b-word can't harm him.

You obviously have no clue what I do for a living or you would know I put myself in other people's shoes everyday.  In fact my job is to help people see things in a different fashion and I am quite successful at it.

If you keep stretching so far for some kind of defendable "branch" to grasp onto, you are going to pull something.

I suppose this is true.

So buy hanging out with a crazy person who refers to himself in the 3rd person as a fictional monster who attended school at a non-existent wizard academy, the accuser in this case could and should have pretty much expected that one day he would snap and beat the poo out of her. After all, it's her fault for keeping that kind of company. And because a hazard was inherent in keeping that kind of company, no charges should be able to be filed against said company when the poo hits the fan.

Now we are both intelligent enough to know that sounds pretty absurd.

Bottom line is this.

Greg will be suspended by Goodell at least a couple of games. If the team can levy its own punishment after that, they will, but it will be minor. Greg will play out his franchise contract here. He will sign as a free agent somewhere else next year (probably oakland), and we will get a compensation 3rd rounder.

At least that's how I see it.

Why does everyone assume the Panthers are going to:

  • cut
  • trade
  • let contract expire

or do anything else that ensures him no longer being a Panther as a result of this? The Panthers have had many players over the years who've stuck around after misdemeanor convictions. Geez, if Jerry Richardson wanted a team of nothing but choirboys, he'd have the NFL equivalent of the Washington Generals. Nice guys do finish last, I don't care what you may think. And there aren't enough guys out there to field a team if the Panthers decided they were going to toss anyone who may have a brush with the law.

Was she at fault for doing what she did and being with him?  Absolutely.  But that still doesn't excuse him especially when he is a high profile millionaire athlete who should know better and has been specifically counseled to avoid this kind of crap.  He is going to be held to a high standard because that is what happens when you hang out in the public eye and everything you do is scrutinized.  So to compare them equally is not realistic when they are not at the same level by any standard.  Just being around coke and weed for example might be fine for her but is a huge problem for him.

The onus is always going to be the player in all their affairs, it is the baggage you gladly claim when you do what he does and get paid millions to do it.

I find it hard to understand why this is difficult to process for many of you unless it is the argument you are trying to win regardless of the faulty logic you are using.

Hardy isnt going anywhere for 18 months - the judge told him that yesterday.  At this point trading him is Not an option at all.

and I think Hardy might have cooked his goose with the judge yesterday when he got on the witness stand and started his smart assery.

Because he is appealing the ruling and taking it to a jury, North Carolina law allows Hardy's punishment to be delayed until the trial.  The judge can't stop the Panthers from trading him.  But he probably isn't going anywhere since he'll likely only be suspended a few games and he's getting paid quite a bit of money this season.

this is more interesting to note than those who were shocked by someone with an incredibly flawed story and won..

Why would any team trade for a guy that might be spending time in jail in another state ?
