exactly.  It's not a crime to own guns, and owning multiple guns doesn't make a person suspicious or evil.

I can't remember, didn't she claim he threatened her with a weapon? If so, that would be the reason she mentions the guns.

So no one saw the assault and the accused and accuser give completely different stories.  This will be a tough case to prove.  It sounds like both were heavily intoxicated which seems to be the major issue.

I think she said he threatened her, but not necessarily with a gun.  If so, that would make it more clear why

they are bringing it up.
