What I am saying is that if you say in one breath that it is not about the money, but then immedatley start screaming lawsuit, it gives the impression that it was in fact about the money.

I had no opinion before reading the quotes from today's trial, actually. I had my doubts about her story, but reserved my opinion until after I heard some of the testimony.

 

I formed my opinion based on the fact that her story changed, and her injuries did not seem consistent with her story. For example, if someone chokes you until you cannot speak until they let up, there would be bruises, or marks on you neck, not on your chest.

 

And what I have said has nothing to do with any predisposition. It has to do with direct quotes from her given under oath. She said it was never about the money. If that is true, then why sue? Why not just be happy with the verdict and get on with your life?

Hardy should win on appeal when his lawyers have a chance to pick a jury. Flying weed doesn't make any sense and the lack of injury given the size discrepancy is a pretty big deal to a jury.

I will say as a practicing attorney that district court in North Carolina does tend to be somewhat of a joke. However, you can win trials with the right judge. This trial was not a good setup for hardy due to media publicity. District court judges are very sensitive about ending up in the paper for the wrong reasons because that usually means they don't get re-elected and they like that 9-5 job that pays 120K. No surprise the ruling was what it was.

Honestly it's difficult to say from the updates I was reading. On one hand they said she was taking off from the cops when they arrived, and said he had injuries, but then they also said that he could have cleaned up all his guns so they didn't bother going into the apartment to search for them.

Now I understand getting info from social media isn't the best practice in court cases, but it seemed like pretty shoddy police work for the guys on the scene IMO.

I dislike activist judges as much as anyone, but like most on here, I've never paid any attention to this particular judge until today.

I'd need more evidence than this particular trial to judge her career.

Yea, after thinking about it a bit I don't think it'd be fair to accuse th judge of having a vendetta or agenda, I think she's just passing the buck. The furthest I'd take it is she didn't want to risk tarnishing whatever reputation she built to help her win whatever award was mentions earlier and didn't see it as cut and dried enough for an innocent verdict to be completely unquestionable. So rather than do the right thing - make a judgement based on the most credible evidence - she did the easiest thing with the least possible ramifications for herself. Guilty verdict to please those on the accuser's side, most lenient possible sentence to please the accused's side knowing full well he'll appeal and get it overturned by a group of people that don't have to worry about playing politics.

Tldr: Judge isn't vindictive or on a witch hunt or some feminazi crusade, just possibly self serving rather than justice serving.

Something tells me he was only found guilty bc he's a celebrity. Judge didn't want people saying she only let him go bc he is one and what not. Happens all the time

They're both bullshitting but nobody can tell who is spinning more of it. 

 

i.e. Hardy should walk, burden of proof is on the prosecution.

Woke up this morning and still can't believe that he was convicted.

 

Nothing I read that was said in court yesterday lead me to believe that Greg was 100% at fault for this situation.

 

Regardless of what he does on the field as a Panther I hope the appeal process can find out what really happened that night.
