Hardy court thread : for all things that happen in court today

You are making some very broad assumptions about what people think or do not think.

Just because you have a different opinion does not make the other person a homer with Panther colored glasses.

A lot of the same people crying now were saying 'gold digger' the day the news was reported, long before any actual details came out.

I think...that I have no idea.

And I'm not really playing devil's advocate, just pointing out the stupidity of some of what's being said here.

I'd be willing to bet few if any on this board ever even heard this judge's name before today, but now she's branded because she convicted a player on my favorite team of a crime (which he actually may have committed, not that it seems to matter to anyone much).

The vast majority of the people who know with absolute certainty what happened here really only needed a single detail.  Hardy plays for the Panthers.  If he played for the Saints or the 49ers the same people would probably be cheering right now.

Domestic violence is a messy, nasty thing, and the simplistic approach some folks take to it just makes it all that much worse.

You have valid points here. But why not answer the question, what do you think happened?

And since when is it unheard of for a wealthy young man to date an attractive young lady? Then, when he finds out she is complete bat crazy (and that's saying a lot coming from Greg Hardy), he decides to leave her? But, she won't let him go. So, he plays her along and has sex with her on occasion. Minus all the drugs involved, I don't see this as something far fetched at all, and possibly a situation I could have found myself at that age.

So, the real question/concern is did he beat her up and threaten her on the night in question? I can not make myself believe he did based on what I've seen before the trial and during it.

He may not be.

He was found guilty though, which is pretty much the only thing that makes any difference in the real world.

Some guys never 'get it' until they face real world consequences. Hardy's life is changed forever now, and he'll have to deal with it.

His life isn't changed at all. He's still going to get paid. He's still going to get pussy thrown in his face. Explain how his life has changed? The only change should be positive, keep better company, keep control of yourself.

I did answer the question.  The answer is I don't know.

What do I think?  I think Hardy's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.  He's got some pretty dumb stunts on his record, for certain.  He's always come off as a tad crazy, though I put that under the category of 'on the field' crazy.  How does it translate off the field/  Who knows?

His accuser?  An admitted drug user whose own lawyer quit on her a while back if I recall correctly.  I don't buy the 'gold digger' argument, but she doesn't exactly come across as a paragon of virtue either.  Plenty of inconsistency in her account of things.  Could just be trauma, but might not be.

So yeah, in the end I think what I've thought from day one.  That this is an unholy mess that I wish was happening to some other team rather than us.
