Hardy court thread : for all things that happen in court today

I'd love to stop being old (by some means other than dying).

But seriously, thinking you can get the full gist of a trial because you read tweets - from sports reporters, mind you - is about as credible as saying you understand all the nuances of War and Peace" because you read the Cliff Notes (or watched the miniseries).

What evidence was presented that showed Hardy was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt? Was it Holder admitting she had taken coke earlier in the evening? Was it when she said Hardy was yelling something at her outside that no other witnesses within earshot heard?

You don't think the journalists who were there would make a point to send out the most important parts. Like others have said though hardy out himself in a bad situation, can't blame anyone else for that.

Some of the same journalists that get ripped on this board for lousy sports reporting?

The fact that she immediately says that she is going to take him to civil court does not mean anything to you?

Pretty much expected that.

Lawsuit being filed doesn't really make anyone more or less credible.  Neither does being the one getting sued.

What agenda was that.

You'd have to ask her.  Maybe she's a feminist.  Maybe she doesn't like athletes.  Who knows.  But, the testimony seemed to be going against Holder the whole way.

Keep in mind, this is coming from a guy who was ready to crucify Hardy when he was first arrested.

Enough to convince a sitting judge.

I have no idea if Hardy's guilty, if the chick's crazy or what the real story is, but I'm not claiming to.  The only thing I feel totally comfortable saying is that Hardy needs to grow up and start using better judgment in what he does and whom he associates with.

That, and next year he plays somewhere else.

I hope I'm wrong, but from what I've seen coming up to this hearing and during it, this young man was completely railroaded.

And for what? This judge will likely see Holder in her court again for similar reasons.

And in the meantime, Greg's life is forever altered. His career is forever altered. He is now a felon and will be attached to domestic violence for the rest of his life. Saying he got off easy is bull. If the judge really thought he was guilty, the sentence would have reflected it. And that doesn't even take into account that he'll likely end up paying this nut job $1 million for her trouble.

Horrible.

My point is this, she stated that it was never about the money. But was heard saying that she wanted him to pay her rent. Yes that was from a tweet, but it was given in sworn testimony.

Immediately after the verdict, the first thing her lawyer says, is tat they are taking him to civil court. How does that not hurt her credibility?

If she had half a brain, she would not have made such a statement, nor would she start any civil proceedings until after the jury trial. Her lawyer would have to know he was going to appeal, and should have never made that statement. it makes her look like a gold digger, and I am sure will be brought up during the jury trial. At least it would if I were Hardy's lawyer.

You do not become a felon after being charged with misdemeanor assault.

She was admittedly on cocaine during the incident.  Her story may have been credible enough for the judge, but now it goes before a jury.  As far as the argument of Twitter and the truth.. I've sat on trials and served as a juror, I am no legal professional but Jones coverage of the trial was solid.  pretty much all factual information.  May not be "all that goes on" in the court room, but there is information there.  Nobody knows the truth, possibly not even the people involved as they were all fuged up.
