That's entirely possible too. Point of my post was that there was no way it would happen before Week 1 when you think suspensions would need to be handed down by.

If you've ever sat on a trial, there's a whole lot going on.  Enough that I seriously doubt a bunch of tweets are enough to sum it up.

People continue to over react.  Seems the jury trial possibly won't be until after the season.  No probation in the mean time either.  NFL don't know what happened.  It would be a NCAA type move to suspend him for something pending in the courts system to which there isn't real concrete convicting evidence against Hardy.

That would constitute reasonable doubt in my opinion.

 

If you took it to that extreme, you could never convict anybody that wasn't caught committing their crime on video tape.

My lawyer friend sent me this. : Judges always convict at district court bench trials. Its the lowest risk. All the district court trial does is weed those who can't afford an appeal to superior court for a jury trial.

Exactly. Anyone who says that the legal system treats everyone equally is absolutely fuging retarded. There's no way the judge would have heard this entire case in a single day if it was the exact same situation but involved a bunch of broke commoners. Hell, it might not have even made it to trial since DAs don't really give a poo about dudes beating on their girls if they're not hot.

It's already been mentioned, but I think the NFL will wait for the appeal.  As subjective as Goodell's powers are, he can look at this and see what kind of insanity it was.  It's possible he'll just hand down a punishment anyway just so it doesn't look bad for the NFL, but I'd guess it's as likely he'll use common sense and see what was going on there and wait for the chips to fall before taking any action.  It would also look bad if he punishes Hardy and then a jury, while giving their decision, says something to the effect of "obviously the crackho had an plan and the judge had an agenda.  unanimously innocent." and Hardy got punished for nothing.
