Yes I was at the game. The weather was bad for both teams, not just the Saints. And the bad weather that a lot of Saints fans point to was only during a portion of Q3. It was a joyous day.

I didn't say it affected either team more or less. Just that it was stupid. The ball should have never been put in the air during that portion of the game.

Didn't mean you specifically. A majority of Saint fans will point to weather conditions as the reason for losing but weather was only a factor for a small portion of the game.

This. Saints fans want to act like Loomis is infallible, but the Saints weren't poo until they lucked into Brees in free agency who most of the league had written off as having a bum shoulder. It's hard to fug up when you have a franchise QB. The rubber meets the road when you have to replace one. We'll find out what Loomis is made of in the coming years.

In Hurney's defense, he never had a true franchise QB and many of his bad contracts were players who had their careers derailed by injury.

Very true, and when a QB hits that mark he hits it hard. Thats why the Saints are so back loaded they know they will cut Brees and more at some point to rebuild.

This is true. It was just two very good teams going back and forth. I fully expected them to split the series before heading into the 2 games in those 3 weeks, so the result wasn't a surprise to me. It hurt because it ended up being for the division, but the Panthers deserved the W. It was a great game. When Hixon caught winning TD, my mom let out a scream of joy, and it was the only time I can say I've ever wanted to hurt her lol.

Lofton and Hawthorne will both likely be gone. Colston, I can see getting an extension at a lower salary.

Look at the dead cap money you lose for both and you can see that you can get rid of them but it just adds dead cap space money to a a team already hurting.   that would be 8 million in dead cap space versus 15 to keep them plus you have to sign players to take over their spot. Colston is already signed through 2016.  At this point they could restructure him which throws more money to the back end.  He wouldn't go with an extension with 3 years left on his contract.  Unless of course he got a big signing bonus which of course guarantees more money and cause more dead cap space down the road.

I brought up his contract because I don't believe it's a backloaded contract. A jump between the first and second year is considered back loading? In my opinion, no. But obviously yours is different. The jump is only 1 million above what his annual salary is. Not a bad team contract at all IMO.

I know he's there until at least 2017, that's why I brought up the last 2 years of the contract lol.

Yes a back loaded contract means you pay more of the money on the back end of the contract then the front end.  The last 2 years costs 21 million while the first 2 years cost 13 million.  That is called backloaded.

Is there any other definition?  I would say 8 million difference is backloaded.

The Saints ran the ball 9 times and passed 10.  If they had run the ball exclusively they would have struggled even more.  We were 2nd in the league against the run.

1-1 in the playoffs on the road this past season. If the Saints sucked on the road when it counted, did the Panthers suck at home when it counted?

Before that win how many road games have the Saints won in their history??  Yeah none.

So what is their overall road record in history?? That would be 1- 6.  With Payton it improves to 1-4.  Lets be real here the only reason they won in 2009 was every game was at home.

I love how you only include the stats that don't make your team look so bad instead of the whole truth.  But i guess everyone in NO does that including the team.

I was more referencing the interception by Kuechly in the middle of the rain storm. The Saints ran for 126 yards on 4.2 YPC, so it's not like they were struggling on the ground. Ingram had a great game. At the end of the day, the Panthers made more plays than the Saints.

I thought you were talking about last year. My mistake. I'm not sure how I was only including stats that don't make my team look bad though.

I don't care what the "only reason" they won for in 2009 was. I just care that they won. The same could be said for any #1 seed to win the Super Bowl I guess.

You guys ran the ball decently because we knew that the saints couldn't beat us on the ground and we turned the pass rush loose which allows for draws, counters and traps.  But if you had run more often we would have adjusted the defense to shut down the run.  Look at most games between us, we really don't care about the run and focus on the passing attack just like teams often play to stop our run and take chances in the passing game.  You have to decide what to take away and what to live with.

The reality is that unless you get the number 1 seed, you have to win on the road to win the Superbowl.  Especially if it isn't being played in the Superdome.  You team is built to play at home on artificial turf.  Problem is that doesn't help much playing on the road against many other teams in the conference.
