Sporting News Report: Stephenson battle down to Hornets, Pacers, and Mavs

Dallas is signing Richard Jefferson to a 1-year deal. If they get him & Parsons I don't see how or why they go after Stephenson. Would they even have the money? Jefferson played well last year & he will probably get a nice little chunk of change

If they get Parsons they won't go after Stephenson.  Cuban even said as much yesterday.

Lance may be waiting on Parsons, to see what Dallas might offer.  Reports are that Dallas has had conversations with Stephenson, but they have not discussed numbers.

If Parsons goes to Dallas, we have a good shot if we want it to get Stephenson

Does Bosh staying in Miami increase the likelihood that Houston matches for Parsons?

Not really. But I'm not sure they could afford both so maybe. I'd imagine Parsons has bird rights regardless so who knows...

I thought Houston was matching. Could be wrong. Matching despite signing ariza

They are considering matching and playing Parsons at 4.  But according to what I have seen they truly (at least that is what they say) are not sure.

Consensus by most is that they can match and will match.  But we won't know for sure till tonight

They are getting their information from agents, who the Hornets would be talking to.  The national guys have better access to all these agents than local beat writers.  These guys aren't (usually) getting it from team sources, although some teams are more leaky than others.

Except none of them have said anything about what the Hornets are doing, just what you can expect them to do, which is just another way of saying that is their gut feeling.  Like I said, they are just better than Bonnell at masking that they are just guessing and have nothing concrete.
