Who are some examples of players (bigs) who were slow, sluggish, and lacked instincts that developed them later?

I am not sure this is something that develops like post moves, jumpers, handles, IQ, etc.

Vonleh has great skills for a big. He is lacking in basketball IQ. And yes that will develop by default.

He has a chance to be a really good player.

My only concern is he seems to lack emotion. Seems a little soft, but that can be developed as well

No, because to me he was just OFF and taking some bad shots. Not that he was slow / sluggish out there and lack basketball instincts.

I know PJ can light up a gym on any given night.

His stat line at IU was fine, 11 points, 9 rebounds, over 1bpg and nearly 1spg in 26.5 mpg. 

 

11 points is not what I am looking for from a top 5 high school recruit with his skill set, body, and athleticism.

Anyone can see twitch, instincts, and timing is an issue for Vonleh. 

 

Now, maybe he can improve this. I certainly hope so.
