Vonleh observation / concern

Watching this summer league game and it's the first full game i've watched of Vonleh.

He has a great frame, athletic, and pretty coordinated but something just seems off. And I am gonna have to put this on instincts. Just seems a bit slow in reacting. This goes for offense and defense. Which is probably why he didn't do a bit better at IU.

Def not a fast twitch guy compared to the Davis kid out there who was making plays all over.

Can instincts and reaction be improved? I am not sure on this. He is young so I am hoping I am either dead wrong or if I am right he is able to develop / improve this over his career, preferably sooner than later.

He's a project... simple as that.

I was telling people that this draft was not as great as people were making it out to be. Outside of Parker Wiggins, and possibly Exum there are a lot of project type players in this draft.

real funny because he was top 5 material. I don't think you are a good talent evaluater.

I am not talking about his stat line / performance in one summer league game.

He just looks slow (reaction wise) and sluggish to me out on the court.

I have a feeling this is how he appears in every game regardless if he scored 2 points or 18.

I could be wrong, and for the record I hope I am.

Exum is a project as well, he can't shoot worth diddly. He can definitely drive to the rim though.

    • According to the talking heads of the sports world, this is a pretty meh QB class.  Sanders and Ward are the only two with first round buzz, but the rest are blah.  Take that for what you will. Let's see how Bryce does in year three.  That's just where we are.  Patience is the key here.  Players need time to develop.  They can't develop if they don't play.  Bryce has made some really good throws, but he doesn't look like CJ Stroud.  That's going to be his point of comparison the rest of their careers.  The ball doesn't explode off Bryce's hand, it's not a cannon ball shot out of a cannon.  He's not going to break a 70 yard run.   Bryce is going to have to continue to make good throws and make plays.  Part of that is going to depend on the play calls.  Part of it is based on the skill players.  A couple drops picked up yesterday and it's a win and Bryce throws 1-2 more TDs.  A completely different story. It's been a crazy year indeed.  I just want to see Bryce continue to develop.  To see XL become more consistent.  To see JT fully recover (not play this season if he's not healthy).  I want to see Coker continue to make plays.  I'd love to see Brooks get more touches and Chubba continue to hammer defenses. Then this approaching offseason, let's go back to the D and work on fixing it.
    • Prime is already gone boss.  Nothing left for team Sanders in college football.
    • Justin Fields’ fifth-year option was declined by the Steelers in April. Without a new contract, he will be a free agent in March. I am pulling for Bryce Young to look good the rest of the season, but if he doesn't, how many of you would be on board for the Panthers to try signing Justin Fields?
