The contract isn't as bad as I initially thought. Year 2 is a team option, so this just gives him one big year.

Good question. I don't think I would, but then again I wouldn't have given him this big of a deal. I see the reasoning though, this puts him on a "prove-it" type of deal for the next two seasons.

I'm guessing the lakers are paying their players since no big name players have signed with them. I noticed they offered a lot of 2 year deals so they will probably go after some big names in two years.
