As Lifelong, Diehard Charlotte Basketball Fans... The Best Part Of Today's News...

As a huge basketball fan growing up today is a good day.

I've kind of been meh to basketball the last 4 years because the regular season was so meaningless. You knew who was always going to be playing come June. This whole team up with a couple superstars thing Boston started then Miami soon followed really made it less exciting.

Now teams like you guys and Toronto can honestly say they have a shot. Teams that were missing a piece or two to take a run at Miami kind of gained one today by Miami losing all theirs. I hope the cavs don't send Wiggins to Minny for Love, although I'm not a huge Love fan (dude plays zero D) I just want to see them roll with LBJ and the young guys.

Anyway, the NBA took a step back in the right direction today as far as I'm concerned. Regular season ball just became more interesting.

Now if we could just move my Warriors to the East that'd be great, thanks!

I don't see Miami rebuilding anytime soon. Wade is simply going to give you about 50% of himself (if not less) because of his body's condition. He needs somebody bigger than him (a Lebron, a Shaq) to come in and take the pressure off of him. Melo is the only guy I see doing that but like Lebron and Cleveland, Melo is from NYC and when you combine that with the money... I can't see him going anywhere else. I think Bosh goes to Houston or Dallas, and Miami left with an aging Wade and McRoberts. Good luck.

I like this move and believe it is a good basketball move for the league. As Michael Jordan put, he would have never asked Magic, Bird and Clyde to join up with him. He was trying to beat them. I just want "superteams" to go away which is why I was thrilled to see the Spurs win the championship. Why? They showed everyone that it is still about team play and not individuals. That team was drafted and ended up growing together, then it paid off. I wish teams would just follow their model which is a good example of the concept called team.

Agreed but it would have been a whole lot better if they never won any championships. Overall they never won as many as they said they would which makes me happy. The NBA is a better place without the big three.

    • Same... With the personnel the Niners had, that defense could have been historically good in the right hands. Under Wilks they were certainly good, they didn't quite rise to that level. Honestly, I see Wilks kinda like I see Rivera: fantastic person, decent head coach. Skill wise, phenomenal DB coach, so-so DC. His greatest strength is his leadership. Hard to find many better in that department. In the Xs and Os / execution area though, not as good. Bottom Line: Wilks is the sort of coach that needs a staff that excels in those aspects of the game where he's weaker. But, like Rivera, I don't know that he scouts assistants very well. That as much as anything might be why he's not in the NFL now.
    • Clearly the best outcome for us is a Giants W. A spot or two difference in the 4th round is inconsequential. Just look at the trade value charts. A spot or two at the top of the 1st means a LOT. A spot or two in the mid-rounds? Virtually nothing.
    • Agree. I don't think I have ever heard him say anything positive, at any time, about the Panthers. Best expectation is no mention at all.
