Slow news day, PFT shitting on receivers

Reading the comments is interesting. Most everyone is saying it's not a bad group  of receivers. Darin F'n Gantt and whoever else at PFT can keep harping on it for something to say in the slow season and the Whoa Is Me crowd here can keep whining but to those with no ulterior motives and some common sense it's honestly not a bad group of receivers.

And another football fan with their eyes open outside of Carolina...

"I mean… They have two solid RB’s and a solid TE and a borderline superstar QB…

A (still growing) physical young rookie WR who is a potential beast, a great possession guy in Avant, and then all the other guys are pro football players also… I’m not a Carolina fan, but with good play-calling I think they’ll be more than fine…"

Well it appears fans like this, actually watch football games, in stark comparison to most of the media we come across.

Seems like they would get better results spending 5 minutes on the fan forum of the team or player they are writing about. Then diarrhea an article from that.

This message is brought to you by The Best Huddle App ever made.

Believe it or not; that's not a bad way to get to learn a team, and/or at least know the hot buttons of a particular fan base.

You have a seasons, and/or years worth of perspective handed down to you by a multitude of people.

More reporters would get better information, if they were to read (and stick to, cause I'm sure they're times they do, but ignore)  fan forums, than repeat unproven, unseen media memes so often; such as Carolina receivers sucking so much.

Maybe they should ask Carolina fans one day; "why are you guys not worried, and think Carolina's receivers will have a better year this season"? But of course, they would never do that.

More importantly; it's better than what the Panthers had last year!!

Gonna piss some people off with this comment--

As much as I or any outsider can tell, Smitty was a cancer.  Yes, he made some big plays and made sure everyone in the stadium knew it, but punching and insulting teammates in the media was all I needed to start questioning his impact on the team in the locker room.  No WR ever developed here after he was drafted.  Not one. The whole sorted truth will come out eventually, but I personally am anxious to see what we can do without him.

If you think Smitty was worth the money it would have taken to keep him here--a 35-year old, small speed WR with a banged up knee, then you are having trouble letting 2003 and X-Clown go. AND you do not know what $7 million buys in the NFL.   LAST year, he got a lot of balls thrown to him and posted 745 yards and 4 TDs. He is slowing down-so you should expect less in 2014.   Cotchery did not have the targets in Pittsburgh, but he nearly equaled the production in yards and more than doubled the scoring.  He is 4 years younger and a better teammate.

Not even going to get into the inconsistencies of Lafell and Ginn.   Benjamin, Cotchery, Avant---upgrade.

We were 29th in passing yards last year. I don't care what people say, we can't be worse than that.

And yet people scream and whine about the fact that we let the receivers who achieved that mark go.

Yes, we could be worse.  I don't believe that we will.

If we'd signed the receivers that the media bozos said we needed, they'd have turned around and said our GM lost his mind for putting all our eggs in the WR basket.

Whoah, you mean to tell me a media company would intentionally mislead people just to get attention?

Barbara Walter's most influential people and People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive have been lying to me all this time?! Say it ain't so!
