Hayward agrees to sign

Recommended Posts

(I) We will be better if we sign a legitimate FA (Hayward).

(II) We will be better if Kemba and MKG take their game to another level.

(III) We will be better if Zeller turns out to be worthy of the no4 overall pick or Vonleh goes crazy as a rookie.

Other than that, no. You guys wanna think that we're the only team who's getting better. All the other 14 teams in the East are also better. Well, except the Heat if they lose both LBJ and Bosh, and maybe the Pistons.

"One" move (Hayward/FA) will be the difference between Charlotte being a top3 in the East or fighting for a no7/8 seed. The Cavs with or without LBJ and Orlando should be better. The Bucks could even win a few more games.

lol no mention of PJ who id bet averages more points than vonleh this season.

we are a young team and get better by default. not to mention the acquisition of two great prospects in the draft. we easily had the best draft imo.

PJ can be good. Can he stay out of trouble?

Still, I'm not going to bet my money on PJ taking the league by storm in his rookie year. Not sure how much PT he'll get behind Hendo and Neal.

And, quit thinking that we always have this and that better than everyone else. You want to be serious, the 76ers had the best draft.

who the 76ers get?

vonleh has arguably the most upside and polish of any big in the draft.

hairston was arguably the best SG in the draft.

i could see both making an all star team or two in their careers.

If players put on the work we will be better as they develop and get better individually. Plus is they it took a better part of half a season to get comfortable playing with Al Jefferson.

Even without McBob we will be better than last year, I don't think it will be as big a loss as others do.

If we don't get Hayward can we still make the playoffs and be a better team then last year? ??

Ask yourself this question before whining.

I'm not one of the people you're talking to, but I feel the need to point out that over half the teams in the NBA make the playoffs. Just making the playoffs doesn't mean poo anymore. The question is, are you moving towards a legitimate shot at a title run? The Hornets are still a couple major pieces off unless by some miracle MKG turns into a scoring machine, which he won't.

Orlando could have made some offseason noise, but they traded their only scorer for peanuts and used their cap space to overpay bad role players. Same for the Pistons. "Offseason noise" doesn't equate to success.

Philly had great spots to pick but neither of them will play this year and they are manning the tank for another year.

Im.not sure what Boston is trying to do.

The only team that really looks to be noticeably better is obviously Cleveland if they get LeBron. From a talent standpoint, the East doesn't gain anything outside of lottery picks, and the only rumors are Bosh going west and Love going East but both of those appear to be contingent on LeBron.

Embiid, Saric, KJ, and Grant.

KJ and Grant are role players.

Embid has health concerns and is pretty raw.

Saric.... is he even coming over this year? Huge question mark on how he will fair against NBA competition.

Id take our draft over theirs without much hesitation (assuming PJ stays clean).

Here's the thing about the Hayward signing that I haven't seen mentioned.

Cleveland was willing to offer the same deal we did and balked because they were so sure Utah would match (and that LeBron fella.)

They backed out because they learned they had a legit shot at Lebron. I don't think it had anything to do with Utah matching, since the reports were already circulating that Utah would match any offer. If that's what scares you off, no reason to host him in the first place.

Miami was the only contender in the East. Charlotte could've won the first 2 rounds in 8 games & they still would've been snacked around by Miami in the ECF.

Which is my point...

There's no need to go out & just spend money for the sake of spending money. Charlotte isn't gonna contend for a title until the young players develop. Mainly MKG & Vonleh. Charlotte needs one of them to become a star to have a chance.

This. I glad someone finally spoke up and said this.

I do not see either one becoming "superstars". And to be a title contender you need 2-3 superstars.

We would need Curry to come home. Then another superstar to want to join him say maybe Melo to go along with Al.

Curry

Hairston

Melo

Vonleh

Al

We would have a shot with that team assuming Vonleh and Hairston lived up to the hype.

That's the point he doesn't have to be a scoring machine. If he get to 13 - 15 points a game and gets more respect on defense (where he can get the benefit of the doubt on foul calls more). You can definitely be a better team.

I think it is far from a foregone conclusion Jazz would match a max offer regardless of what they feed to the press. A lot of issues and concerns with signing Heyward to that deal. Majority of the fans are against it.

There's no reports that say otherwise, and the Jazz have so much cap space it won't hurt them to spend on their best player. Not like they are looking at contending in the west for the conceivable future. The fans are against it because it looks bad, but looking at what they have at this point, it's not that big of a deal.
