Hayward agrees to sign

Recommended Posts

I expect the Jazz to match. Like i said before, desperation has kicked in for them. They pretty much have no chance now to find a replacement and Gordon is it. We could have offered him $18/m a year and I bet they match it. haha

What frustrates me is that so many fans want this deal to fall through, because they believe in their heart of hearts that the Hornets have a legitimate shot at signing a top tier free agent. I just don't get it. Maybe they've played fantasy GM on too many video games. I have heard no reports of big time players setting up interviews with MJ and company. Yet, people are like, "let Gordon walk, I want Lance".

What is going to happen is, Gordon goes and Lance signs elsewhere. Free agency ends and we have nothing to show for it, and people will wish that we had gotten Gordon. I'm not going to sit here and say that Gordon is a gem either, because he has his flaws but to act like Charlotte can get anybody they want and that beggars can be choosers is pretty dumb IMO.

What's I think is interesting about this whole Hayward thing is that a lot of people seem to think that he's reached his ceiling....yet his stats have gone up every season.  I know his shooting percentage has gone down....but still he gets better every year.  When a player averages the most minutes on his team it's easy to see why his shooting percentage goes down.  It's just legs, especially when you play his position.

He's 24 and for people to say that he's peaked is just ridiculous IMO.

There's a bit of a double standard.  Don't get me wrong I would love to have Lance, but he's 23 and people say his potential his through the roof still.  Gordon is only a year older but he's the best he'll ever be?

I don't get it.

To be fair there haven't been reports of Stephensen setting up meetings with anyone to this point.

Some of you guys need to get out of the "we are the sh!tty Bobcats so no one wants to come here" mentality.

We are a playoff team, with a very young core, a great coach, the owner of "Jordan Brand" is the owner (endorsements??), and a reinvigorated fan base.

While it may be true that we might have to pay a bit more than the big market cities like LA or NY, the idea that Charlotte Hornets is not an attractive place is false.

We ain't the Bobcats anymore

Spot on. It's this desperation to have a guy like Gordon Hayward at all costs. A nice player, yes, but certainly not one worth killing your flexibility on. Let the Jazz bet on this guy at 16 million dollars a year since they have nothing to lose then see what happens when he's unrestricted and in his prime at 28.

We have lost one player in free agency at a spot we just drafted in the top 10 back to back years for. With or without Gordon Hayward we are in a much better spot as a team then most here realize.

Phoenix allegedly had discussions with Rich Paul. PHOENIX.

Some guy named Steph Curry will be on the market. We might just have a little bit of a chance at him. Not like he literally grew up with the Hornets or anything.

If this whole "more prestigious area, warm weather, big market" bias existed to the extent people believe it does LeBron wouldn't be this close to leaving Miami for Cleveland and Bosh wouldn't be looking for a place to run if LeBron leaves.

Build a winning culture, spend smart, draft well and put a good front office and coaching staff in place and you can get free agents to go anywhere.

Of course, we are better than the Bobcats. BUT there is something called market size which isn't going away and will always hurt us. I believe our market size will never appear to a guy like Lance.

We need to see / reach out to Curry and see what he is thinking. If it is possible to lure him to Cha id rather pay him than Hayward.

If no Curry, than Hayward might just be the best we can / will do in the next few years.

Tell Curry to demand a trade. Lol

The $8-10mil that some fans wanna give Kemba could go toward Curry. Trade Hendo too.

Package Kemba + MKG + two 1st rounders for Curry.

PG: Stephen Curry

SG: PJ Hairston

SF: Gordon Hayward

PF: Cody Zeller / Noah Vonleh

C: Al Jefferson

Easily top 2-3 in the East.
