Beer Gut

Recommended Posts

I try to eat well enough to offset the beer drinking. For example yesterday I had a nutri grain bar for breakfast, lean cuisine and yoplait for lunch, apple for a snack and at dinner an average portion of grilled chicken breast with green beans and mashed potatoes. Then beer. Occasionally I have sweets like ice cream or cookies and that's what I really see weight gain from.

thats a ton of sugar you are consuming even before getting to the brew ha

I drink beer every day, can't remember the last day I missed.

That said, I eat at home almost every meal, and if not there it's usually a salad at the office.

I don't drink any soft drinks or sweet tea.

I very rarely drink liquor.

No sweet stuff.

Na, calories are something that matter very little.  Other than the apple and chicken, everything else is high in bad sugar.  Well maybe not lean cuisine but it's a processed frozen dinner so it isnt very good for you.  Once sugar is processed, especially fake sugar, it goes right to your gut.  Even the grain bar has a good amount of sugar in it and the mashed potatoes turn right to sugar.  Yoplait is far from healthy.  All alcohol is processed into sugar in our bodies so anyone who drinks daily, will eventually develop a gut unless you are very conscious in your diet and exercise.

Well i dint exercise much other than working around the house, and i dint have much of a gut. Until vacation and holiday this past week i had been around the same weight for two years. Those two things always add a few pounds but it doesnt take long to get them back off.

Speaking of yogurt I make my own most of the time.  My favorite yogurt recipe is an old frugal gourmet one - you melt butter in your frying pan and crack in 4 or 5 eggs then cover them with yogurt and already fried,  very thinly sliced onions, and garlic.  You slow cook with the lid on the pan till the eggs are done but still runny -  slide it all onto a big plate on top of toast.  Sounds gross but its absolutely delicious.  Chase with a red eye or if you dont want to make your own a Budweiser Chelada.

I'm in top physical condition and I'm in very good shape except one place.. I'm starting to gain some stomach fat aka beer gut. Seems like everyone on here is a beer drinker like myself so tell me how you keep the beer gut in check.

What are your pillars of focus when going to the gym?

Also, besides alcohol, how much soda and specifically energy drinks do you consume?

Heavy caffeine use can raise the chemical "cortisol" and specifically add inches to your waist.

If you consume too much alcohol, it can lower your testosterone levels, and raise cortisol in the process.

If you are at the gym going at a snails pace on a treadmill, you might as well not even go. Try doing some high intensity cardio, and DEF add sprints to your workout regime!

I lost 30 pounds last year, and I have managed to keep it off my heavily monitoring things like this.

Besides the beer and perhaps an energy drink once a week I live a semi-vegan lifestyle. Once a week I'll have fish, maybe a steak on holidays. I don't even use a gym I just do light workouts at home. I just got some creatine from the store and I'm going to kick my workout into high gear.

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
